Ok guys, just like the tittle states. I need a good shop in the Phoenix area (near 35th ave & Bethany Home) that can clean, bore and what not to my block.

Ok thanks. By the way how much did they charged you for the job?

I just got a block back from B&B machine 2 weeks ago. They did a great job and it cost $55 to clean it and $44 to hone (didnt need to be oversized so I dont know what that will cost).

They're at 936 W. Broadway in Mesa.

Back from the dead...

Which machine shop would you recommend for cylinder head job?

What do you need to do to your head? Re-surface it, port, polish, or just clean it? I took my head to Brandon Ruiz and he has his own guy that does the work for him. My head looked brand new once it was done. Give him a call @ (602)621-3795.

7bolt 1g head drilled for 6 bolt headstuds.
1mm oversized valves
Port/Polish work
Deck surfaced and cleaned.

As long as whichever person or shop can do that and do a good job. I'll be willing to pay.

I had the same thing done to my head. Just no p&p, over size valves, but I did have a 3angle valve job and some valves replace because they were bent.Only paid 400 in total and the head look just like new.

I am going to be pulling my head due to a leaking head gasket. This time I want to have the head o-ringed. Has anyone had there head or block o-ringed by a machine shop here in the valley?

I basically want to have the head decked and o-ringed. Valve job was done 20K miles ago.

I used Chucks Speed Center in Phoenix to do my block and head work before. They did a great job. Except I always had a small head gasket leak since I rebuilt the motor. I think it was due to the fact that the head and block surface finish were not smooth enough for the MLS head gasket. I don't think they deal with Import motors very much, lots of muscle cars there usually. I am going to call them and see if they know how to machine a head for o-rings. I just wanted to see if anyone has had good success with o-ringing the head by someone else in the valley.

Work done by Chucks.
Block:
Cleaned/magnafluxed
Bored and honed. W/head plate torqued.
Decked
Align honed the mains.

Head:
Cleaned
Decked
5Angle valve job
New valve guides and seats
Installed racing valve springs and retainers.

Regards,

Tanner

B&B Is a great mechine shop. I have takin a couple heads and blocks to them and there prices are decent.

I had work done at B&B and I wasn't impressed. I had my head resurfaced for an MLS gasket + ARP Studs install and they told me it will be hold even if the block wasn't decked since the block usually doesn't warp much. As soon as i got to 25PSI I started pushing coolant. The other thing they didn't notice is that my valve guides on cylinder one are messed up and the valves do not seal properly. They said they pressure tested the head and it was fine but 5000 miles later I did a leak down test and I am loosing 50% pressure at 100PSI trough the intake valves.

Another shop (Phoenix Cylinder Head) was recommended to me by a long time Mitsu tech and I will try them next.

WOW thats crazy man. Thats the first time i have ever hurd anything bad about them. I noticed your in mesa. What part of mesa you at? Its always good to have a local dsm buddy.

I went to B&B once all ready to have my flywheel redone because napa screwed it up. Thanks NAPA for the dirty hell of pulling the tranny again  They did a good job on the flywheel so I guess I'll roll by and see what they have to say.

Matt thanks for the info. You must live out by Sosoman and Main because that's the only E85 pump on this side if the valley ;). I was just about to convert to E85 before the head gasket blew cause I'm out by Red Mountain High School. It's like 1 mile away.

B&B did a good job milling my head and installing valve springs+ titanium retainers, BUT when I had asked how much they milled off the head, they didn't know. . .

I explained that valve to piston contact is an issue on these cars, they didn't care. The kid said it would be "just fine". Won't be going back

No problem bud. Im acually in apache junction right off the 60 and idaho rd. When ever i need e85 i just take a couple gas cans up there to sossman to get what i need. I rarly ever drive my gsx. I know were red mountain high is. I used to play ball over there at the red mountain rec center all the time.

I have been there 3 times and never seen a kid? Brian is probably mid 40's and the other guy is even older. They did a good job on mine and were honest about what needed to be done and didn't. But I have noticed they aren't versed on our engines. They deal with lot's more domestics.

Went to B&B and they said the head failed the pressure test. They charged me $60. It was a small pin hole leak behind the valve seat of the #1 cylinder. That's the cylinder I was having coolant in, that was the reason I thought I had a blown head gasket.

I took it to Basko engine building shop, recommended by B&B, on Baseline between Gilbert and Stapely. They said there is no guaranty they could weld it without blowing through to the water jacket. Min $150 max $300. I guess I will have to find a new head.

Automotive Machine of Scottsdale see Dave.. (480) 945-0934

he knows his 4g63's and has build plenty of them. he just finished my 2010 900hp build.

i would have to disagree. I have had 3 sets of 3000gt heads done there. None were done on time. The last set was totally screwed up and had to be redone. I would not and have not used them since. Totally unimpressed by that shop. Take your money elsewhere.

i have a guy who does all my stuff and i get killer discounts so if anybody needs any machine work let me know, also if u need head work done it the phx area hit me up cause thats my specialty, oh and so is fabrication.
