Lower intercooler pipe

The stock lower ic pipe doesnt seem to be that restrictive un like the upper pipe.

Is there really much point is getting a lower pipe anyways, just a improved j-pipe like this one.

In 2Gs there is a little tank that is part of the lower intercooler pipe. It looks really restrictive to me. It probably just quiets things down, but I don't really know for sure.
