On my 2g gst my stock oil pressure gauge showing low oil pressure and it doesnt move when I'm driving it stays the same as when I first start the car. It's just over the "L" . With the car running and I check inside the oil fill hole the cams are getting oil so does that just means the sending unit is bad? I get no oil pressure light.

Unfortunately, about the only way to verify the oil pressure, is with another oil pressure gauge.

It is possible that your pressure relief spring, in the oil filter housing, broke, dropping your pressure, but it is more likely that you have an electrical issue with the gauge sending unit itself.

Pick up another sending unit and check the gauge again. If it is unchanged, verify it with a separate oil pressure gauge and if that reads good, trace down the wiring.

Look for wire insulation that has rubbed through by the filter adapter and may be partially grounding.

Are you sure the wire itself hasn't fallen off the sending unit stud? Common problem. Best bet is to zip tie it to the sending unit in a position that holds it in place. As inaccurate as the stock gauge is, I always used to shit a brick when the wire would fall off mid drive. Aftermarket pressure gauges are a thing of beauty.

The dummy light is the one to keep an eye on. I, like many others, have aftermarket pressure sensor but i sure as hell kept the dummy switch hooked up. I test it occasionally as well. The stock gauge is worthless but if you see that dummy light come on you shut it down asap.

Dummby lights come on too late more often than not. Definately check with a mechanical guage to verify pressue at idle on up. Many things can cause low oil pressure but get a verified, accurate reading before going down the rabbit hole!
