I just finished rebuilding my holset and changed the oil over to synthetic. I also removed my .078 oil restrictor thinking that it might of been too small causing premature failure. Oil pressure before at idle when fully warmed up was around 18psi now I am seeing only 10psi. I have no balance shafts and ported the oil relief and cut the relief spring to get my oil pressure down. Can the combo of no restrictor and synthetic oil reduce the oil pressure at idle.

I'm having a similar issue! Just recently changed the oil on my 92 Talon and switched over to Synthetic Oil. I'm using the same weight as before... and the oil pressure is fine when driving, but when I take it out of gear or am at idle, the oil pressure light goes on?!

I'm hoping it's something simple like the synthetic is a little thinner or something! And I do need to adjust the idle speed as it seems to be a little low!?

Never had any problems like this before so any clues?? :aha:

ok i am having the same problem but no oil pressure light comes on. I changed to a full synthetic 10w 30 recently and realized that when stopped at a light my oil pressure gauge reads low. Then while i am driving the gauge will go up to a little above the 1/3 line. my friend put his hand behind the exhaust and said that there is a very little bit of oil coming out in the exhaust. Also, sometimes while i accelerate the rpms will flutter a little. Any insite would be appreciated.

I will be changing the oil with stp oil treatment hopefully that resolves some issue if not then i will get the sensor changed...

I had my oil squirter hug open and had the same problem. i used a half can of seafoam in the crankcase. now its back to normal.

OIL FILTER! LOL i have a similar issue, and i think, i just think that the oil filter i bought which has a slightly larger volume. maybe you did the same thing i did??? just offering my input.

yeah i bought a STP filter that was larger than the face of the oil pumpXD but it sealed fine and the car seems to run cooler? LOL oil pressure just stays a lil above the low mark.
