I have a Walbro 255 Pump and it's been rewired and that thing is screaming. Like tonight when I was coming home I really had to turn up the radio pretty loud to drown out the sound. Is this is sign that the thing might be kickin the bucket? I know they're loud to begin with but this this is ridiculous.

I'm wondering if it depends on how tight the installer clamps it in the sending unit. My 255 is loud too, I made sure to clamp it pretty tight when I put it together. Maybe, just maybe the key is to leave the clamp a little loose to leave more cushion for the pump.

I had a 255HP Walbro in my 92 gsx and I have another one now in my Gvr-4. Both pumps were rewired but to my surprise they are barely louder than the stock pumps. I did use the rubber sock that came with the kit but I don't know how different it would sound without it.

They will get noisier if you run with less than 1/3 tank of gas.

Another possibility is that it might be one of those fake walbros:

Oh wow that is a very interesting read. I just bought one off ebay too 2 weeks back but I haven't installed it yet. Time to check and see if what I got is a real deal. I suppose the next question to ask is, where did everyone get their walbros from and state if it's noisy or not.

*edit*
Well I checked mine out. Had the stamp and everything. Made in USA. It was also oily. It also did not come with a hose. But the installation instructions are not car specific. I think I have a fake :(
