ok...my tranny went from pefect to perfectly crap in about a month... first my tob died...makes that ridiculous sound when clutch is engaged....it then got worse as it got colder as expected...now my clutch is starting to slip so i decided to order a new clutch kit...b4 i even got the new kit my tranny now is making high pitch noises in 2nd 3rd 4th and 5th...(some days worse than others) i want to wait till at least spring to put the clutch and tob in cuz its freezing up here..o ya and it pops out of 3rd and 5th...im thinking thats my cables tho...n e ways i have the 420A 99 eclipse and i have babied the hell out of this car....when i take the tranny out what should i look to replace and if so where to get them...im guessing synchros...cables...final drive bearing and input bearing...i have never done n e type of tranny work just researched this alot.... thanks for any help and if im way off target here go easy on me
thanks guys

Please update profile.

I would speculate that the input bearing is going. Kicking out of gear probably is the input to mainshaft bearing going and letting the gears #### sideways a little throwing then out of plane with the cluster gear assy. Synchros are very common to go on these. I would do a complete trans overhaul if you plan on pulling it, or find a very low milage trans, put in some synchromesh and drive it.

Good Luck

ok....update on the situation...i went and bought a new stage 2 clutch, got the synchros throw out bearing and pressure plate...i had the car jacked up and took a look at what im getting into for the summer. i also took the car in to a new transmission place that my dads buddy owns for a second opinion, he said the same exact thing, u need a total over haul. Then the next day im driving to school (about 40 miles away) and it slipped out of fifth and i could not get it back in...and im pull over and im thinking to myself wow everytime my car heats up for a while and i get past about 30 miles it does this...i had the car towed home cuz it would not stay in any gear. I decided to go for a long shot and flush the fluid...when i pulled the drain plug nothing came out of it but a few drops...! i looked up how much fluid i needed on vfaq and decided to run fluid trhew it to clean it out and found a loose bold between the bellhousing and trans. I tightened it down and the leak when away :p i let her warm up after all was done and to my suprise the throw out bearing sound went away and it shifted like butter. i checked it 3 days later and the fluid stayed and the leak is still contained...im still going to do the clutch in the summer and check everything...how can i tell if the synchros are bad? and what other damage will i visually be able to see?

thanks Old Mitsy tech and i will update right now!

You don't have to see it. If it's acting weird and you got no fluid when you pulled the drain, that's pretty much a done deal. It's only a matter of time that you can't get it in fourth gear, followed by usually 3rd and so on. Or, you could drive it successfully and go buy a lottery ticket. When you win, split it with me. Because you would be one lucky dude if it doesn't quit you.
