I here lately have been doing a ton of reading as to what my plans on my next build is going to be. My current mods are in my profile, But this time I am going to stroke it to a 2.3L Im sure Ill be asking quite a few questions here in the future but I guess ill start with the bottom end. My main question is about butchering and knife-edging the crank, now I have read alot on it and alot of people say that by doing that it reduces its strength but I have yet to read anywhere where as someone has actually broken the crank due to butchering and knoife-edging it so im leaning towards doing so, but what I cant find so much on is the torque part of it which is my dilemma, This car will be somewhat of a DD more street/strip racing and road course racing, but I have read that when yhou butcher and knife-edge the crank you lose alot of low end torque but how much do you really lose? ### I will only be driving it to and from work when im not at the track or racing, and sometimes I do catch traffic, but if its gonna be that much of a hassle and lose that much low end torque then I will not do so, So is butchering and knife-edging really worth losing low end torque for about 20 minutes a day 5 days a week.

If you want to know my future plans to better help you out then let me know and I will be sure to write out the list as I have it written here. Sorry for it being so long.

Thank You Seth

i think you would loose momentum and that is expected with knife edging.

but its all up to you. i felt it when i went with a lighter flywheel, but nothing i really care about just gotta rev a little higher than stock.

I was gonna mention it would probably be like going from a stock flywheel to a Fidanza 8lb flywheel.
IIRC twicks69 had a butchered 4G64 crank in his 2.3L and it became out of round by up to .014", but he also has like 1000hp at the crank and revs it high.

Thanks for the input I appreciate it!

As of right now thats what im debating between getting a Butchered and Knife-edged crank from FFWD or non-butchered one from JAM, Once I truly decide which to get Ill move onto pistons Which Im debating between Venolia or Ross pistons :) ### this will be a vehicle that the only time its driven on the street is to and from work other then that it will be at the track or road racing. So if anyone wants to chime in on any advice it is greatly appreciated

Thanks Seth
