loosing coolant

My gst is loosing coolant and throwing out a little white / gray smoke thru the exhaust , can it be a BHG or is the white/gray smoke running rich ?

Black is rich. White is coolant. Blue is oil.

Do a compression/leak down test first.

Go get a hg test it measures for CO2 in the coolant .if it passes the test. there a pressure test on the coolant system you can do. and if it still passes.sometimes it can heat related that causes a seal or gasket to swell up and let fluid pass on trips. in that case a tracer dye will be required.and will show with a uv light. all the testing equipment can be brought or rented at your local parts store. or take it to quality techincian.

If it was a blown head gasket how much smoke would be coming out ? Because smoke only comes out when I rev up the engine a lot and it suddendly stops after a while all I do is smell and people have said it smells like gas

Have you done a boost leak test? Compression test?

My car smokes at wot in the higher rpms... Its just running rich from my tune. I know this due to a compression, leakdown, and boost leak tests all come back fine... Also, my WBO2 just puts the icing on the cake.

My GST did the same thing, the head gasket was not sealing correctly and exhaust gases were finding there way into the water passages, acting like a blower, it pushed coolant out through the overflow bottle. I saw bubbles and the white/grey smoke at idle and at boost. I would lose over a gallon of coolant/water in a day. FYI

I would recommend doing a compression test, or better yet a leakdown test too though.

First do a compression test to check the condition of the hg.

Hundreds, but not many that would allow it to enter a combustion chamber.
