Well the 16yr old springs and struts on my Talon have seen better days. They creak and crack like nothing else, so I've been looking around for what I want to do for replacements.

As far as struts go, I think I'm sold on the Tokico Illuminas. The ability to adjust the ride works for me, as I like to take my cars out and autocross from time to time.

As for the springs, thats where I'm running into a bit of a snag. I'd love to VERY moderately lower the car, as there is definitely a ton of wheel well peeking out, but the problem is, I've not found any that will really do this. The closest I found was the Tanabe GF210's, but some searching here on those got me worried because a lot of the guys said that the 1.2" drop in the front was really closer to 1.5-2.0 inches. I really don't want the car slammed. Which is making me wonder if sticking with stock springs my only option. How well do the stock springs handle in performance situations (Autocross)? I barely remember how my old GST handled, and my Talon's suspension is junk right now, so I've really got nothing to go on as far as first hand knowledge.

Also I guess, if someone else knows of an illusive spring that might fit the bill (very slight drop, not super stiff), post it up please. Most of the stuff I've seen is 1.5"+ drops and I really don't want a shitty ride with the increased annoyance of having to drive 1mph over some larger bumps.

Good God that car does ride stiff. I'd gotten used to it to the point when I hopped in mine now I thought it was squishy!

Eibach's kit advertises 1.3" drop (not the Sportline) and I remember reading good things about those, though now I can't remember the link - there were photos of stock vs Eibach vs Eibach Sportline as well.

Found it:

Yeah, the E-Pro Kit was the only other one to grab my attention, but I hadn't seen any pics like that. Thanks! The only thing with those is that I swear I read on this site that they were actually weaker than the stock springs in some regard. I've been searching for that one.

And yeah, that stiff ass suspension will be fixed shortly after I tear off that old ass turbo-back next week. :hellyeah:

<---- Tanabe GF210s with Koni Yellows here.

I wanted a "not as low" as Pro-kits but just as stiff. Front spring rates are the same, the rears are about 10lbs more with GF210s from what I remember. I wanted the same goals as you, not super slammed, rare scraping, but a nice looking lowered stance and able to autocross every now and then. It's been a year so they've settled, 2 finger gap in the front, 3.5 in the back, with 225/45/17s. Good choice for you IMO.

I had H&R Sport Springs in my previous 2g, nice drop good ride, 1.7-1.4

1.7 is way too much for me. I had sprint springs on my WRX that gave close to the same drop, and the bottom of the bumper would rub my low profile ramps when I put it up on them.

I could deal with using stock springs if I had to, just to avoid stuff like that, but like I said, I don't have a lot of experience with them since the only good pair I've ever ridden on was 6 years ago, and I never autoX'd the car, so I don't know how good or bad they are for being semi-competitive AutoX'ing. I do it mostly for fun, but everyone that goes wants to be somewhat competitive at least.

There are a lot of high curbs around here, and I don't want to be rubbing things everytime I pull in somewhere, ya know?

Tanabe used to make "Dress Form" springs, which lowered like 1/2 inch and was a tad stiffer than stock. Or is it Tein H.Tech, either way I'd do that, stock springs are way too high and ugly for me!

I've only found H-Techs for 1G's and non turbo 2G's. The non-turbo version has a perfect drop, but they're not compatible obviously.

From experience I vouch for Eibach Pro kit and the Illuminas, great stuff man! :)
