Looking for O2 housing with external gate...

Hey guys, just trying to find out who has the most economical (ahh, who am I kidding, the cheapest) decent o2 housing set up for an external gate? I am thinking about going external and I was figuring that an o2 housing would be cheaper than a manifold to do so.

This is the only way to do it cheaply:

- Buy a cheap eBay knockoff o2 dump housing. They're usually around $55 shipped.
- Find a wastegate flange kit for your desired wastegate.
- Cut the o2 dump pipe as close to the housing flange as possible, while still allowing room for your wastegate to be installed.
- Weld the wastegate flange to the dump pipe, making sure everything clears once the housing is mounted.

That's it. Sounds simple enough, right? For around $75 spent (plus some creative welding) you can have an o2 housing that is flanged for your favorite external wastegate.

I have little to no experience with externals. All 3 of my DSM's have had upgraded turbos, but all with internal gates. I'd like to actually do it on my EVO III manifold, but Im scared sh*tless of screwing it up.

Nothing to be scared about. This is what more and more of us are doing these days (including yours truly). Grow some balls and man up. An externally 'gated E316G is the way to go.

You should probably think about picking up one of these EMs to install the external WG.

I picked up a stainless steel o2 housing on ebay for around $50, and then had a local performance shop weld the flange for my 38mm tial for $80.

I just bit the bullet and bought a punishment recirculated 02 wg housing...I little expensive, but your just paying for convience.

Ive seen lots of guys weld a flange to their stock manis with no problem as long as you use the right welder and someone with experience.

Just take it to a welding shop im sure they could fix you up

i payed 400... but it also came with a tdo5 20g . just do it the ebay way though like everyone else has said
