Does anyone know where I can find an OEM style carbon fiber front bumper for a 2g eclipse? I have looked everywhere and can't find a thing...also I am looking for a carbon fiber trunk lid for a spyder...I see they make carbon fiber hatches, but that doesn't help me LOL....anyways I want to convert as many of my body panels to carbon fiber as I can, but all I can find is hoods and fenders....anybody know of anything else?

because for the cost it would prob fit like crap due to differences between the mold and your car. you would be better off going to a local fiberglass shop or marine service center and having them make one from your bumper to be able to fit it to the car. This is why cf parts are $$$ or fit like poop.

or take your chances with the internet

There's gotta be somethin, I see this stupid "drift" style carbon fiber front bumper all over...someone's gotta make an oem one...

even oem style fiberglass fits like total crap and you want to pay more for cf? for the $$$ have one made for you

You'll have to get one made. You'll cry the Mississippi river when the first rock or big insect nicks it.

LOL. I would be hellllla pissed!

Yeah I was afraid of that....you would think though that I could at least get a cf trunk for my spyder since they make them for coupes....

I've had the bumper covers off before. They are not heavy. Just a couple of pounds. (2 or 3?)

Bumper covers are polyurethane.

Better saving on the metal doors maybe, like someone else suggested. The doors are double layered and have crush parts to connect the layers for protection. You could also just cut the inside layer down as best you can while still letting the window work.

However, I don't think messing with the doors would be safe without a rollcage installed. If you get T-boned, you will have a car in the driver seat.

Yeah the doors are a big weight savings. I have the CF/fiberglass doors and dropped a large amount of weight off the vehicle. I installed manual crank window mechanisms from a dodge and they work good if you're up for some fabrication on the composite doors.

Are you doing this for looks or do you race?

I guess you could say both, and rarity....I would like my whole front end to be carbon fiber at some point, I know some parts dont weigh as much but every pound counts....and yes when the time is right I would like to see my car on the track.

A carbon fiber OEM front bumper vs. your OEM front bumper (covers only) are going to be so minute in the way of weight reduction.

Why not just have your bumper CF wrapped?

Not until someone starts making them again. I haven't seen one for sale in years

Then again there's not a huge market for them LOL
