Can anyone give me a good place to order a quality jdm turbo engine with the tranny. Im looking to pay around 1200 which ive found but i cant find any in stock. Come on help a fellow dsm lover out.

They appear to be the same but the jdm 7bolt and usdm 7 bolt are different! Not only are the cam position sensors different but also the specs. A 2g GST or GSX come with 210 hp while a EVO 3 engine comes with 270 hp stock thats right 270 hp I would say thats quite a bit of an increase. Someone try to tell me these are the same engine I dare you.

LOL ... the evo3 also came with a 16g ... not a t25.

makes me want to buy some beat 92-94's, pull the motor, and sell it for 1500.

Exactly

I wouldn't trust Jdm engines because of the fact they beat the hell out them over there. Besides the cyclone there no better than a junkyard virgin. Yes internaly they are the same.
I'd say get a longblock from your local boneyard. Slap it up to your tranny you have now and spend the $800 on a new 16g and 550's. ;)

I dont know about everyone else who has bought a jdm engine but mine was in damn good shape. We pulled the head to replace the head gasket and everything was beautiful. No carbon deposits on the valves the crosshatching was still very very apparent on the cylinder walls. The engine is even prettier with a worked head and completely rebuilt EVO III 16g.

So your saying they are gonna tear down every engine clean all the cylinder walls and the heads and everything before they ship them over here u have got to be kidding me. They are not going to rehone the cylinder walls before they send them over they are not gonna make sure there is no carbon build up on the valves. Remember these engines have anywhere from 30 to 40 thousand miles and im sure there wouldnt be much if any carbon build up. :dsm:

Nobody is asking for a JDM motor because they wants something from Japan thats just stupid. People are looking for low mile motors vs. a high mileage USDM motor, thats why you don't buy a USDM motor. The JDM motor I got has about 60k on it which you can verify by simply looking at a few pictures. I tore it down which is sort of a waste but I wanted a low mile motor for a good crank and a good stock head as I'm only doing cams in the head with minor port work, but no springs etc.

As hellotbone said http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=141361&page=2&pp=25 look at the pics in this thread for how clean a JDM motor is. THe motor in my car ins't this good and it's a 98 with 60k on it.

That's gotta be proof that they clean the hell out of them.

Spray some Seafoam/MCCC/whatever in your 2g motor and I'm sure it'll look the same.

Honestly, all the guys talking shit about JDM motors in the thread probably havent even seen one.

Seafoam isn't going to affect the crosshatch on the cylinder walls.

As for them beating the hell out of there cars, one of the manual cars we have seen had the flywheel still on it. And it was in very good condition.

I know americans beat the shit out of cars worse the japanese drivers. :thumbdown

Totally agreed

I would buy a jdm motor over a usdm any day. I actually bought a jdm motor. It was off a automatic trans car so im pretty damn sure it was not beat nearly as hard as a stick shift. I just changed the turbo , injectors, and intake mani. Im very happy with my jdm engine runs perfect. I got it at CNS for $1000 even.
