Looking for a GSX

I've been looking for a GSX and not sure what year i should be going for, i want a 2g but have heard mixed things about what engine you need for best performance and not sure what year would be best can anyone give me a hand?

Well i wish i could start looking if i knew what year would be best to but i've heard mixed things about 95-96 and 97-99 taking different kinds of engines so what would be better?

When buying a 7 bolt powered DSM(95-99)theres always a worry of possible "crank walk." With that being said it can happen to 6 bolts aswell just less likely. Awd 2g's seems to be getting harder and harder to find, without rust and other issues that would steer most buyers away. As long as the car seems to be properly maintained and the seller seems legitament and honest with upgrades and/or maintence records then I wouldn't stress about a "specific year." The 98-99's I believe where the years with the split thrust bearing to help prevent problems with crankwalk so Maybe you want to look into that specific year. My personal opinion is like buying any other car it just has to be taken care of when buying used to make it worth buying. I've owned 3-95 dsm's, 1-97 and 1-98. All of them except my current one had 7 bolts and all of them proved themselves worthy of 300+ hp with proper bolt ons and maintenance. 95's came with Eprom ECU's so thats a plus for the earlier years, You might find a 2g with a 6 bolt swap already completed. Just take your time and don't jump on the first one you see, unless its worth it of course. Good luck!
