on my way home around midnight last night and i hear a loud pop by my driver side tire. thought i had a blowout. my car starts drastically pulling to the right and almost into a huge ditch. thank God i was only going 30mph, because it could of been bad. look at the pics and you will know what i mean. it was a great way to finish off the weekend. :thumb: the next day i had to get the tow truck guy to actually dig my car out of the side of the road to get it on the truck. oh yeah, this all happend when i was a little drunk. i feel like a$$ and have to deal with this. ohhh good!!! :barf:

the lower arm is there, it is just under all the dirt and rocks. if u look close in the dirt, the cv joint came out of the rubber boot, no telling what else is wrong. thank God for full coverage insurance :thumb:

i imagine the fender is gone. i will probally need new rotor, tire, rim, springs, shocks, fender, front end, cvjoint, may new upper and lower arms. dont know yet, towing to the shop in a couple of days. probally a lot more wrong with it than i can see!

So...Whose gonna make the "buff that sh*t out" joke? Lots of things to be replaced as already posted. Good luck, keep us posted.

Man that fist shot looks F---ed. Yea you need a whole new left front suspension(sorry) the only things that are good are the wheel and tire. Hey atleast you didnt get busted for a DUI. Why cant this shit happen to beaters??

Eh, that shit will buff out. jk. Sorry to see that man. Good luck. :thumb:

I know about the recall but do u have to be the original owner to get this done and does it cost money since its so far down the line, i have a :dsm: dealer like 2 mile from my house so im curious to if I should take there and have it done??

You know what they say "Recalls are forever" especally safety recalls. some woman could have been blasting along at ??? MPH and killed a lot of people due to a ball joint failure and they knew about the problem!!!! Put on your best unsatifyed owner suit and go visit the local satin they should stand by the car. If not take it to the division headquarters and complain loud and clear. Its SAFETY related they don't want to get the reputation that they want to kill the consumers. :thumb:

ahahahah LOL. sorry i couldnt help it...im just laughing because i pictured my car in your cars place, seems like something that would happen to me.

the good thing is that u are ok. the dsm will be fixed but if something happened to u it wont be fixable. good luck.

With all due respect, let's not add insult to injury... But I agree with the learning something part...

Well I happen to be taking mine in to the local dealer to have that recall checked out today...

Ii would guess ball joint, I've seen that happen before right in front of me..but it was with a POS van.

Wow i just clicked on this not knowign what to expect... Turns out your same exact problem happned to me on the 4th of july when i went over some railroad tracks... turned out it was a ball joint. i just ordered 2 new ones and put em on..

well i just got a rough estimate from the shop. says the entire suspension is gone. have to replace everything. even have to replace fender and front end. off the top of his head he quoted a little over $3,000.00. half of what i owe on the damn thing. i have a 500 dollar deductable i have to pay, but 500 out of 3,000, i can live with that. might try to get an aftermarket front end since i have to get a new one!!! keep u posted! :thumb:

I'm the third owner on my 96 RS, I took the notice from Mitsu into Satan and said I need the Ball Joint/recall work done...no questions asked, they even drove me to BART and picked me up. Recall work should always be no cost to you. If Mitsu is charging you, take it up with Corporate.

And yes, you should take it, they should be able to check your VIN and see if a previous owner had the recall done.

mitsu is also responsable for any damage that happened from the ball joint failure, all of it......so make sure its not under the recall..................... :dsm:
