Bought my DSM last night

It's a '91 Talon AWD. This my first turbocharged car, and my first car with a manual transmission. It has a ACT2600 clutch, and it's extremely hard to get used to.


I feel very stupid asking this, but how exactly do you read the boost gauge? (I have an AutoMeter gauge installed, along with a TurboXS bov)


The gauge shows vacuum, and then when I floor it, the needle jumps to zero (spot between vac readings and boost) and it stays there until I shift (but the BoV vents, so the car IS building boost)

The guy I bought it from claims that its set at 11psi

Then you have no boost. It's just a pressure gauge.

That's where the boost gauge should be reading, then. You either have a helluva leak in the intake, or the turbo's not working. Or, the gauge is hooked up wrong.

it sounds like you have a bad leak somewhere. Whenever you floor it your boost gauge should immediatly go to where it's set at (spiking even higher on other cars).

I strongly suggest you perform a leak test.

My buddys wrx was like that, we found the line came off the bov, so check that, mybe a hole in the line.

How do you perform a leak test? I can HEAR the turbo spooling and BoV releasing.

Noone is saying the BOV is leaking. People are saying the lines are leaking, or the gauge is hooked up on an incorrect line.Link to where to tap the boost lines for a boost gauge . Check out how its installed.

doesnt that BOV vent into the atmosphere? so there would be no way to tap for a boost gauge the way most people do it.

Venting or not, i wouldn't have anything to do with the boost line. Most people tap into the bov line, it is connected to the rear of the bov not the front.
