Would there be any noticable negative effects on the oil system if I mount the oil cooler in the old smic's stock location? The SS lines I got are really long... I can post some pictures if necessary. I was worried about a few things...

Just so you don't have to look in my profile, I have the balance shafts removed, and a greddy oil cooler. (6 bolt)

My guesses would be: I would need more oil, because some would be in the lines. Maybe a lose in oil pressure? And they would have to be routed past the engine and turbo, which is high heat. I really don't want to spend another $60 on lines.

Thanks guys,
Steve

I have that done on a friends 2g with no problems. I ran the lines in front of the radiator in that channel in the frame.

If you make the lines too long they say you will start to lose some oil pressure.

Will that be that much of a problem with the bs's removed though? Usually you see higher pressure due to it, so I figured it might balance it out a little bit. But then again I'm still a newb when it comes to these things, so I might be putting two completely different things together.

Thanks, I'll have to look at that when I get back to the car.

There isn't a down side to running long lines unless if the diameter is to small. 3/8 is the absolute minimum for any oil line, 1/2in is preferable. In my limited late model I have over 15 feet of oil lines (oil cooler, accusump, oberg oil filter) on a stock pump and have no negative effects. Its even a plus to have more oil in the lines because then you have more surface area for the oil to cool and more oil to act as a heatsink.

Oh I don't think size will be a problem then, LOL. They are 7/8 in diameter. haha

Thanks for the info!
