so bumper inserts might not be the right name for them....but my g/f's eclipse has these 2 plastic guards on the bumper that cover the two holes on the bumper (no not the fog light holes)

So this guy tried to tell me that you're supposed to leave those in and that taking them out was bad and that it 'messed up' the air intake...but i mean...you know having those there would block air??? either way...99% of the eclipses i see don't have them...(hers is a 2g 1998 RS)

So what gives, he's wrong right? LOL

I have a '96 and I COMPLETELY cut out the pieces that come across the opening of the bumper out with a flush-cut saw ... now it looks like it's smiling.... I never noticed any difference at all.... I guess that would just be a personal preference Item.... leave it out if you dont like it, or think it looks better gone.

i bought mine used, and it didn't even come with them. i was just curious if that guy was full of it

They just cover the vents on the side of the bumper, on the turbo model the passenger side is open for the intercooler and the driver side is closed on the M/T and open on the A/T because of the placement of the tranny cooler. To answer your question, I wouldnt see it messing up anything.

I have like 6 of these in my basement some how LOL.....I dont know how they got there.

You are talking about the half moon looking shaped things?

it wont mess up anything trust me on my 2g i have a bomex type 2 and that thing has more holes in it then my underwear
