Hi all. So after buying my first dsm (99 gst) i changed the spark plugs.
When i pulled them out i noticed 3 of them had a little oil on the bottom threads.
There was no oil in the top of the plug at all. The electrodes were black but they were dry. There was only little amounts on the threads, enough to seem a little shiny. Car seems to be running fine; though it does give off a bad exhaust smell when flooring ( thinking its a exahust manifold leak), and it also lets out little blue smoke when shifting (again flooring past 5500rpm) I was wondering if any one did a wet compression test before me it would've caused this. Would the little bit of oil you use to do a wet compression test cause such thing or would it be dry by now. Had the car driving regularly for 3 weeks before changing plugs

You either have a leaking head gasket or bad rings for the blue smoke. Try a compression test and post the numbers you get.

Your turbo seals could also be going out, causing the blueish smoke.

i agree what turbo are you running and how many miles are on it if its still the T25 or t28 the bearings could be shot or going out or you might just have a bad valves cover o-ring that go areound the head and valve gasket and you might check you port ontop of your valve cover that runs back to your intake and see if your geting blow bye

Its a stock T-25. The car has 169000 miles.. All stock... (I know) It was lady driven though and always "professionally serviced". I found several service tickets for a maf sensor, clutch and clutch componetnts. But no rebuilding of any kind.. I was contemplating a turbo going bad too. It seems to spool up fine. I will check my intercooler pipes for oil. What else can you do for testing a turbo??

I will also get a compression test when I get a chance. I just got a fresh tune up and am in a budget so prob in a week.

As for testing, best way is to pull the downpipe and check the inside of the o2 housing for oil caking up on the inside. Or check the turbine shaft for in and out play. Because unless it has a catchcan, there will be oil in the ic pipes

Might be the turbo going out. Now if your compression checks out good like mine did a while back check th gaskets on the valvecover and check the turbo like stated, my problem was the turbo and EVERYONE told me it was rings. Check compression and go from there but im guessing that t25 is on its way out.

Question. My car started to struggle really bad when idling in the mornings; hardly even stayed on. I checked all connections and found the MAP sensor connection full of corroison. Im sure that was the my problem because the car idling snaped back into normal when i wiggled it. I cleaned it with corroison remover and it is fine now. Could this sensor perhaps cause you to run rich by giving wrong signals? I was hoping it could also be the cause of my smoke
:p

The smoke would not be blue if it where from a rich condition. As everyone stated it could be the oil seals in the T-25 and a compression test should be performed. Aside from rings or head gasket another reason for internal oil consumption could be valve seals.

Update. Sorry for taking so long. It ended up being my MAP sensor connection. I took the connection off and there was water and slight corroding. ( from my previous mistake of pressure washing the engine) I got some electrical connection cleaner, cleaned it as best as I could, let it dry. Problem fixed..
now Im going to move onto boost leak testing. Im sure I'll find some as well ### the car is bone stock

not MAP sensor. Power Transistor ... :ohdamn:

Also, the "little oil" on the spark plugs, was excess fuel.. I was running very rich due to a faulty o2 sensor. Changed, got almost double the gas mileage
