Washington,
I have been searching high and low, but none of the sites actually mentions that the downpipes replace or retain the catalytic convertor. I need a downipe for my 96 gsx that allows me to keep my catalytic convertor. I don't want to pay $200+ for a downipe, can you guys please LINK me to an appropriate downpipe?

thank you

The only one I am aware of that is not cat-eliminating is the RRE downpipe which is roughly ~$230 last i checked. Here

Another option would be to buy one like the Megan Racing and then have a buddy/local shop/etc cut and weld up some flanges so that you could make it work with a hi-flow cat.

You could always just swap the DP back out whenever emissions-time comes up. That was my plan but i recently passed with the MR piece still installed so i never had to swap back to stock.

Best thing you can do is buy a high flow cat and appropriate sized downpipe and get it welded or flanged in. Or you can just have a shop make you one for a small fee as all you need is a U bend and a little bit of straight pipe.
