About a month ago i was driving and i noticed that my dash and head lights where fading in and out. i don't know what to do and its driving me nuts. i have a amp but Ive tried disconnecting it and it didn't change anything. also what alarms me more is that my valt meater fluxes between 13V and 17V. if any one has ANY idea i would be very grateful

do you have any underdrive pulleys?
by what's in your profile, it sounds like you have quite a bit of electrical stuff hooked up. maybe there's too much stress on your alternator but as long as it's not dipping below 12v, you're probably ok

No. No under drive pulleys. its just worrying me because it started out of the blue. if i push on both window down butens it slows. i was thinking a bad ground but i don't know wear to start.

sorry it took so long to get back, but i started college again and have had 0 time. i brought it to a auto zone and it came back saying the charging system is OK but now the idle is going nuts and the volts are going up and down. if any one has even the slightest clue please HELP.

OK. first i want to thank you for your help, but i finally figured it out. the gasket between the oil cooler and the block that holds the filter was slowly leaking, and as i would drive oil was being splashed up onto the alt. the oil covered the brushes of the voltage regulator which caused it to partially fail. it ended up needing to be replaced, and he fixed the leek with a gasket from a oil filter( since the only way to get one was to buy a new oil cooler) and now its puring. thanks for all your suggestions.
