Anyone know what the lightest weight brake rotors are for a 2G Eclipse FWD? Lightweight for a drag race situation, but still good on a daily driver. Also need to fit well behind my 16" rims.

Also, anyone ever use Raybestos ceramic pads? Lifetime warranty! Good/bad...work well on a lightweight rotor???

Finally...my driver side pads are worn almost to the backing plates but the passenger side looks to have several thousand more good miles left. Common or problem???
 
Already have lighter wheels. Need to replace the rotors anyway...every last ounce adds up!

Bleed your brakes. This is the symptom of having air in one circuit (namely, the one with the pad that isn't wearing as fast).

buy some expensive rotors from a place like TCE or stoptech that have aluminum hats. Not cheap, but much lighter than a fully cast rotor.
 
I spoke with this gent this morning on the phone and we talked a couple of options on this as well as the "hows and whys" of certain aspsects of the BBK.

How light it too light? Are drilled rotors worth the risk? How heavy are the pads?

All were valid discussions. For many the trade off for max weight savings vs. hard driving heat is a big no-no. But for the drag guys who comute to the track and don't road race it's an alternative.

*** One thing we did not think of when we discussed the caliper choice, rotor sizes etc is the Wilwood factory produce 'box' kit. Also available with drilled rotors. This is actually a very nice package and might be just the ticket. The calipers are great parts and offer modest pad choices. Rotors light but vented. All bolt on, no fit work needed.

ANY Wilwood dealer can offer this kit so it's an open market for it.
As for price you'll have to contact a dealer of you choice.

When looking for lighter rotors also look into the diameter of the rotor.

I saw a show on the SPEED Channel and King Motorsports put a Big Break upgrade on a RSX-S. They dynoed the car before and after the break upgrade. They said the new breaks even though were bigger were lighter. And also even though they are lighter the bigger rotors placed the weight out farther towards the rim which makes the wheel harder to rotate.

They lost 5 fwhp and not sure on the torque. They said this little of hp wouldnt hurt them on the road course since it would be able to break deeper in the cornors and make up time that they would lose in the straights.
