lighter flywheel.

I am getting a new clutch for my gsx and I was thinking I might want to go with the act light flywheel as well. I was just wondering if anyone knows how much power/faster rpm would be gained from the $250 dollar part? Does anyone know just how much faster down the 1/4 mile? Thanks all.

All I can say is 'Get it' and that is from experience, not science

The xACT flywheel is lighter but not fragile like most. it also takes a beating. Yes it revs alot quicker too. Not a ton, but very noticable.

Speaking from experience (not ACT), you probably won't even notice a difference at all in performance or revs. The noticeable part will be the careful modulation of the clutch as the lightened flywheel will make the engagement more "sensitive." Basically, a bit more difficult to drive.

I use a fidanza and I DID notice the change in revs./throttle. The ACT is about 3lbs heavier. I would say do it. The power may not be noticeable, but any weight you can get off of the Drivetrain, the better. Since everything will be off anyway, you might as well.

And yes, learning how to feather your gas more gently and engage the clutch will be a learning experience, but it's easy.

I got the xact streetlight & installed it when I did my clutch. I think its worth the money, it alot lighter then stock ~12 lbs vs 18 but not as light as the aluminum ones (7 or 8 lbs) that can cause driveability issues. The car "free" revs faster and drops down in the rpms abit more on shifts to give you a better power band. As for how much faster it is in the quarter that I can't say but I can say I defently like how it drives.

I have the Xact flywheel I can barely notice a difference. If I had to redo it I would of taken that $225 I paid for it and got an AFPR

if you have gsx definitly get it because the only con i can see for them is if you have a front wheel drive gst with a lot of power you could actually loose time on the quarter from the tires spinning more since your revving up quicker, because my friend with a srt-4 put a 8lbs one and his spins out through first and second if he guns it too hard, but im sure on a gsx thats no problem. I see it as if your installing a new clutch and your going to be in there any ways gone and do it because you may regret not doing it later, but if your not installing a clutch save the money for something else. I plan on getting one whenever i mess up the clutch i have in my car now and have to get a new one.

why not just have the stocker lightened? someone correct me if i'm wrong but doesn't RRE lighten stock flywheels for like $50.

yes they do but its $135 to lighten it from 19lb. to 14lb.

If your getting a new clutch and can afford it, you should get it now so you only have to pay labor once. Also if you keep the stock flywheel they are going to have to get it resurfaced (I was quoted $80) I would reccomend the fidenza flywheel over the ACT but thats just me. I autox and drag race the car, so it was worth it to me. I did notice a difference in a good way after it was installed.

I was origionally going to go with the RRE lightened factory one, but because of living in Canada shipping/brokerage to me, then returning my old one would be close to the price of the xact. If you go lightened factory be very careful with where you get it done. If the shop doesn't know what they are doing they can & have exploded, defently not a nice thing. As for the tires spinning more on fwd, I don't have issues with that but I also installed a LSD at the same time, so my traction is obviously way better then it was before.
