I replaced my lifters today and just wanted to know if the cel light is supposed to come on when put into gear?

Who knows that video is impossible to make a diagnosis from. Heard under load, my guess is spun bearing. You also need to get your code scanned, no one is going to be able to tell you anything just by knowing the light is on. I bet the light is on because you are knocking.

all i asked was what you thought it might be, no need to talk to me like a noob... i have a logger and i did plan on checking the code. I figured it wasn't the lifters just wanted a second opinion.

First of all, nowhere did I talk to you like a newb. Second of all, don't ask for help if you don't want people to elaborate on answers. If you aren't a newb, why are you asking this here?

Were all here to help each other. Doesn't matter if your new or a wise man. I don't think it's lifter tick but then again I'm not there. Record a better vid with different points of views. That way we can be sure. Did you bleed the new lifters (the right way) when you installed them?

Holy hell man. That "fut fut fut" noise is not lifter tick haha. When I spun my rod bearing on my first DSM, thats the noise it made. What code is it throwing?

Wait, Wait, Wait........ If you just had "lifter tick" then you would for damn sure know that this sounds nothing like it.

Secondly, Why are you taking the video of a noise in the area of your motor from inside your car? How is that helping at all?

haha people should read the before you reply info

Yeah the lifters were bought new, i bleed anyway nothing came out, they compressed, i installed using the lifter tool.
Haha yeah man it sounds even worst in person. I'll check the code tomorrow and let you guys know what its throwing.
I definately didn't expect to have to do a rebuild so soon, DAMN.

He was making the same assumption that I was. You replaced the lifters because they were ticking. If this is the same noise you had before you replaced the lifters, then you probably didn't need to.

Pull the code...
Drain the oil and check for metal...

Always find the problem before you replace parts.

When i changed my lifters i had to let the car idle for a good 45 minutes before they got quiet,so maybe you can try that.

A good way to check for metal shavings is, take off the oil filter, cut it open pull out the inter paper element, and look on the inside of it, for the shavings! That will more than likely tell you if you have a spun rod bearing!

So today i checked my oil and oil filter for metal and couldn't find any. Then i scanned the code with my logger and it was throwing a 41 for the injectors. I checked the wiring etc, everything was good. The only time the cel light comes on is when it's put into gear. Going to autozone today to rent a compression tester, will post results when i do it.

Also, it doesnt sound like its running on all four cylinders...Sounds like a misfire, which would also cause your CEL. Does it have aftermarket cams, or stockers?

I agree with Compressions post, it's not firing on all four. Another thing I noticed on the in car video was the fact that the oil pressure stays on zero.

Code 41:
An injector fault is nothing to fool around with, you better ohm out your injectors, and check the wiring before you start the engine again. If you have a stuck open injector that's dumping fuel all down your cylinder walls, and into your oil, that would explain why you have ticking, and run on three cylinders, and have no oil pressure and need a new engine now.

The guage wasn't hooked up when i got the car a few months ago. I do plan on hooking it up when its not snowing or ice cold by me. Yesterday was the first time the cel light came on.
So basically youre saying that since it knocks now, its too late to fix the problem, i already blew my motor?

Try to unplug the connector on the injectors one by one while the car is idling. The car should run much more rough while they are unplugged. If you pull one and the motor does not run any differently, you need a new injector.

Source the problem for the injector code. If that doesn't go away, then go back and recheck your work. Is this the same sound the car made before you changed the injectors? That question hasn't been answered yet and could hold a key. If it isn't, did you unplug any of the injectors? Also, if if didn't make this noise before, then I would pull the valve cover and check to make sure a rocker arm didn't get knocked off and is now bouning around in there. That could cause the noise and misfire.

This would be my approach:
Is this the same noise that was there before you replaced the lifters?
Yes: Check out the injector code
No: Pull the valve cover and check your work.

If you didn't find metal in the filter, then you likely didn't spin a bearing. I also would not recommend starting or cranking it again until you pull the valve cover and make sure everything in the top end is ok. You don't want to chance it. If a rocker wasn't seated properly and got loose, then there is a chance it could bounce in the way of the cam. There is could break the head, bend a cam, and lock up the cam and you could kill a bunch of valves and pistons. I just wouldn't risk it for how easy it is to pull the valve cover and recheck. I once pulled the head back off my car becuase I forgot to double check that the pistons were in right...Evo pistons

Try to unplug the connector on the injectors one by one while the car is idling. The car should run much more rough while they are unplugged. If you pull one and the motor does not run any differently, you need a new injector.

Unplugging the injector will only show which cylinder isn't firing, it will have nothing to do with the source of the problem. If I were to pull the rocker arms off that cylinder it wouldn't fire and you would now have one shiny new injector with a 3 cylinder DSM. This could still be a wiring or ECU issue. The key to this one is going to be the history. Did this happen before the injectors were replaced? Why where the injectors replace. It could just be a broken wire, but even so an engine with a miss shouldn't knock. I still think its in the top end.

Don't jump to conclusions yet. Recheck your work and figure out what the problem is. Try not to run the car anymore than you HAVE to or else you could be doing more damage along the way.
