lifter question

OK the revised lifters have the 3mm oil ports. Wouldn't it be possible to just put the old lifters on a drill press and drill them out to 3mm's? Just make the hole bigger along with the side hole too. I mean thats all mitsu really did.

If you drill them you'll get metal shavings inside the lifter.
That's bad.
