I dont like the stock tail lights and want to change them, but a full altezza replacement is too ricey for me... show me what you got, even the altezza's, who knows... gimme all of em

I saw pics of a dude who spray tinted it dark, but not black... Just enough to kind of mellow it out, kinda like the 3rd gen rx7 has. Looked sweet as heck IMO, I'm gonna do it to my 1gb talon :)

yea... see, thats hot... but it doesnt work for the color of my car... my car is "wildberry", the most unmasculine color for this car... how am i supposed to get a burgundy color car's tail lights to look good spray painted? all black wouldnt work as well as his did b/c his car is black... and if i sprayed the tails the same color as my car i dont think it would look very good, no clue though

i seen a talon with all red tailights(painted the orange parts)

it was on cardomain, sorry but i cant look for it now...

For the people that have made there lights all red, you sprayed the inside of the light correct? I mean so it doesnt scratch.

How would spraying it on the inside change the color on the outside? I'd imagine they spray it on the outside. If you did it on the inside it wouldn't have any effect except make the light seem darker.

Thats what Im saying but if you spray the outside it would scratch off easily.

Ok. So it would be pointless to do since you wouldn't get any real results out of it. Like I said. Only make the light seem dimmer or darker than it was before. It would not change the outside appearance at all if you spray it on the outside.

a while ago i read off of dsmtalk i beleive, that they sand off the orange then spray it with the red. not sure if it was inside or out

I say leave em orange.

If you want to do something different add a 194 or 168 bulb inside the orange housing and wire it to the brake circuit so they light up also when you hit the brakes. Gets attention from the tailgaters.

You could illuminate the talon also...

I hope to get to do that mod one day in the not too distant future

I know that it is really thin, some folks have discussed using a clear acrylic miniblind wand with leds on each end to make a light bar.

That sounds like it might work, especially if you cut notches in the rear to provide some form of texture for the light to reflect off of.

I'll have to give it a try.

Other thing might be possible is an led strip like they use on minitruck and what not.

the ones that are like

..............................................

not
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

I did connect an extra bulb (those cruising lights but with white bulbs) in the turn signal so they light up orange when you hit the brakes.

School buses, trucks, all sorts of vehicles have yellow and red illumination.

I have gone thru inspection several times an no one has ever said a word about it.
I have been pulled over with my foot on the brakes and been popped because my license plate lights were not white (they were bluishwhite) and still not a word from the cop about the yellow illumination...

I will eventually figure out some way to do the Talon also, and then I am going to install single led indicators in the factory mirrors..
That and a Black bousing conversion on My Headlights and I will be covered as far as illlumination.
This probably wont happen until late summer though

no it doesn't and no we don't sand the orange off.

all you use is testor's brand candy apple clearcoat and then a couple coats of normal clearcoat. you can then wet sand that with super high (2000 grit) grit sand paper to make it glass smooth.

mine's been this way for two years now and its not coming off at all. it's just like any other paint job though in that it's all in the preparation.

I think im going to light up the middle section that says "talon"... but not sure whether to set it up to turn on when i have the headlights on, or for the break lights  ?? suggestions? I was also contemplating getting rid of the black over the letters "talon" and painting the middle section red with the rest of the lights so when i step on the brakes or whatever, only the letters "talon" light up... sort of the kind of thing like the 3000gt's have with the light up letters on back

I recommend illuminating the talon with the brake lights as and additional 3rd brakelight, unless you plan on going all red and you switch the harness so that where the yellow was is now red and is running light so it flows with the running lights instead of being stepped up and a different color.

you would have to move the turns down to the lower section where the running and brakes were.
It can be done and it would not be too hard. Just switch the wires for the running light bulb on the outer brake light with the wires for the turnsignals.

I just like for my car to look stock to everyone but DSM'ers. Less problems that way with law enforcers and law breakers (ie thieves).
