Lethbridge,
OK, I own a 1991 Eagle Talon TSI FWD. Only mods done to it so far is Air Intake / K/N and muffler. (Newb at this time) My problem is, I am getting lots of oil around the valve cover and I can see oil staines on the top of the hood, as well as oil pooling on the top of my oil cap. I've checked all the lines and nothing seems to be leaking. I've revved up the engine and tried to look for any problems. Nothing seems to be going wrong. Oil seems to splatter up onto the intake manifold as well. Is it just a bad oil cap? Here is a picture. I might try and get acouple more closer ones.

don't feel left out man i got the same problem.... i started to notice this problem after i changed my oil though....... i put in some mobil 10W30.. the car does not leak bad but after a long day of driving it starts leaking a little........ im not sure but i think its the oil cap cause thats where i trace it down to.......... i mean where else can it leak from....... someone please help use

Well you guys can always go to mitsubishi and buy a new gasket for it.. it costs like $2 and it replaces the gasket on the oil cap

Also note that it's a piece of metal that's holding it on for tabs, if you bend the tabs a little bit out towards the top of the cap, it will seal a bit tighter.

go to napa and get the oil cap they sell for it. i tried everything from getting a new gasket from mitsu to getting a new cap of the same style, the only one that worked for me and didnt leak was the one from napa.

on the bottom of the oil cap there is supposed to be a rubber gasket. the thing is time has turned it into plastic thats why it is leaking. break it off and take it to a hard ware store. go to the washer section they will have flat rubber washers that will fit. you may have to cut it to size but it will work.use the old one as a guide to cut the new one. it doesn't have to be perfect it will seal fine. pay .25 cents instead of 2 dollars and save a trip to satan in the process. ha...ha.... :thumb:
