leaking fluid from axle possibly

Alright so I have a 420a 2g eclipse with a manual tranny i picked up with a blown differential quite litterally a hole the size of a baseball blew through it. So I bought a full transmission off craigslist and threw it in and i had a bit of trouble poppin axles back in but they seemed to have locked in and ive been driving it and they havent popped out. anyway i was changing the brake pads today and noticed a small puddle had formed after about 2 hours of the car sitting and it was transmission fluid it seems as though the tranny fluid is leaking from the axle hole but its hard to be sure is it possible for it to come out of there and if so how can i fix this?

Yes its possible for it to leak from there. You probably need to change the axle seals, its usually a good idea to change them when you install a trans or replace axles. They are like $10 ea

Exactly what happened to my car. Popped the axels out, replaced the seals, and perfect! Cheap easy fix!

I will have to do this cause mine is leaking from what seems to be the same spot. I will have to do this as well and hopefully it fixes the problem.

I'm looking on autozones website and i am not seeing an axle seal would it be known as something else?

Its also called a output shaft seal.

Can wheel hop cause the axle seals to leak? I had a terrible launch with wheel hop and after this my car started leaking gear oil. I checked out my tranny and couldnt find where it was coming from but I was thinking maybe it could be the axles.

buy factory seals or they will leak. extremepsi sells them
