hey everyone i recently did a motor swap and had to pop the axle out of the tranny i drove it for about a week and realized the passenger side axle the one i popped out is leaking is there a seal or something that goes right in between the axle and the tranny any help would be great.

Don't mean to hyjack but I had actually still have the same problem. I replaced the outer seal even though it looked fine and it still leaks. Is there and inner one? Do I need to rip the whole thing apart?

Hopefully its just the outer seal for you OP.

When you remove the old seal be extremely careful that you do not scratch or nick the metal around the seal. Doing so could result in a permanent leak.

glad i got one and searched the forums before i posted. im having the same problem. just replaced my trans and the passenger side axle is leaking right at the trans. off to autozone and i now know what im doing on my next day off

yes there is a seal that fits into the trany where the cv axle meets the trans its only a couple bucks but you will have to remove your axle to put it in.

Couple bucks?I just replaced my driver side axel seal and it was 30 bucks....And it still leaks:cry:

go to advance. I tried to go to AZ and their stock numbers are screwed up with these axle seals. They tried selling me the wrong one.

I'm completely going off of your profile when I say this, but you've got a 4g63 tranny, not a 420a tranny, so that could explain the difference in price.

Napa is the only place I can ever find the right seals. +1

Also, make sure you guys are fully seating the axle into the differential. Once I've got the axle in place and as far in as I can get it, I like to take a 2 ft long 2x4 and seat that against the the hard edge of the inner CV boot then take the trusty shop 2lb sledge and hammer it in until it stops. Fresh, properly seated seals + this method of seating axles = :thumb:
