leak fix?

how would i go about fixing a leak thats on this knob on my oil filter housing? its like a cap and it points down but leaks!

Without a picture or a better description it's hard to say, but maybe take it out and re-seal it with thread tape or some sealing compound.

I believe that the cap thing is either the oil pump sensor or a plug that looks like a cap...either way you will most likely need to drain the oil(if you don't...big mess) and remove the plug, use some teflon tape(sparingly) and reinstall the plug. I guess the sensor could leak but if it appears to be comming from where it connects to the motor then you could probably remove it tape it reinstall it.

I to have an oil leak comming from my oil pump sensor and I cant tighten it up enough to make it stop. Did i over tighten it? it seems to come from between the nut and where the sensor comes through the nut.

Over-tightening will cause the tapered threads to crack the housing. Try some Gaskacinch sealant or Permatex High-Tack on it, you may get lucky.

The first one sounds like the oil pressure relief valve.

i went to autozone today and i found out it was the oil sending unit it was like 7 dollars so i bought a new one ill install it and post the results thanx.
