fix exhaust leak?

i have an apexi n1 cat back, and right near the muffler where one of the support hangers was welded onto the pipe, it broke off and now i have a hole about 1 in. by 1.5 in. I have tried using the bandage wrap from auto zone but burned through it twice. any fixes anyone knows about cause it changes the exhaust tone and is really annoying. ill try to add a picture soon.

Take it to a muffler shop and have them replace that piece of pipe with another piece of 3" stainless. Wraps and clamps are hit and miss and don't always work properly.

Your best bet would be to replace that section of pipe. If you can't weld and don't have a buddy that can, it should be an easy fix for any exhaust shop. If you'd rather not replace the whole section, you might be able to get away with just welding a square patch of sheet metal over it. Make sure you paint everything when your done as the N1 is not stainless.

If you don't want to do that and would prefer a ghetto/temporary fix, get a 2" x 2" square of sheet metal and bend it so it wraps over the hole. Then take the exhaust bandage and wrap it over that; that way it won't burn through so quickly.

i dont really want to deal with cutting/replacing pipes. I dont know anyone in that work so i wouldnt be able to get it done cheap either. heres some pics in case anyone still has ideas, and thanks for the replies.

That's 30-40 bucks at a muffler shop. I've actually seen worse repaired for less. Hell, as Matt said that's not even stainless so it'll cost less.

Just following up, went into one place and they welded it up for $15
