look im new to this DSM stuff and I just purchased a 90 Laser RS and I want to know if its worth puttin a body kit and no2 intercooler etc. in it. I really want to know if the Laser is the underdog or is it just not as common? whats up with that-

No, the laser is not the underdog. There all basically the same car except for bumpers and small accent parts.

they are the least valuable of the three that is for sure. i am not a fan of the look without the spoiler but if you put an eclipse spoiler on one it would look alot better. my friends dad did this and his laser is one of the nicer 1g's i have seen.

btw i am not trying to bash on lasers, i own a talon and it is less valuable than the clipse. i am just making a truthful point.

i think those items u thought about buying are rice boy products, but once again that is my opinion and it is your car. do what you want, but if you are looking for a pavement pounder that is not the way to go.

alright so if its basically the same car then i'll make it kinda sweet. The only reason I wanna tune it is because I have a lil bit of money about 1k I definatly wanna get the Dragon Z body kit whether I sell it or not. I just dont wanna do a bunch of modding and then dont get any props because its a shizzy Laser- I see thats not the case. Any suggestions from u guys what I should do with it?

I say free mods, maybe a few hundred bucks in other mods. run a 13.9 ish and call it a day. then enjoy.

With no bodykit of course. A body kit on a 1g looks sad and strange. Like those hairless cats.

it matters were he lives, i have the fastest import in my lame town of slow cars(only 25k people) and i think i have more sh!t talked about me than the guys with a civic with more wing surface than a b-52. if you walk everyone people are gonna talk alot of sh!t, but it makes me feel warm inside because i know they are just jealous rice boys and mullet having v8 guys.

but yeah i say go 100% performance, i know i laugh to myself about guys with the fancy body kits, UNLESS they can back it up.

agreed. so I have 1k to spend what'll i do! definatly gonna do the free mods and my dad has an autoshop & said he'll port/polish for $50 what a benefit. So u were talking about the couple hundred dollar mods what exactly are ya talkin about? I think it'd be a good idea to get some rims off of a talon/clipse at one of the many junkyards w/dsms around here. I guess I was kinda hung on the body kit because i wanted it to look pimped even tho it isnt yet. At school there is some competition theres a all-out mr2 fiberglass body everything- a TON of freakin Civics a couple Supras
If all goes well hopefully i'll at least be able to smoke the civs after i invest a lil bit (or not?) just got this car havent even seen what it can really do. the little DSM tag said 4g17? any info on what that means (yes i'm that noob)

Your car has soo much potential to wang... don't forget that those guyz at school paid a lot for there cars while i imagine you spent under 2k.... go to the tuning guide..... first thing you should get though is a Manual Boost Controller and Boost Gauge... just be careful about turning up the boost.... it can be addicting... those mods alone and you should walk on a lot of people ....i know i did .... juss my 2cents....

Yeah you weren't kidding about the newb status. Honestly, you need to bury alot of your plans as they are

Body wise, no body kit looks good, especially the one you mentioned. Get a 3 piece spoiler off of an Eclipse, get some rims off ebay or dsmtrader for like $300 and lower the car, you will be happy.

Get a gauge pod+boost gauge for $40
Get a boost controller for $40
Get an intake filter $20
Get a testpipe $30

Now that is hardly any money and the car will seem ALOT faster. Set the boost controller to 14psi and you have added about 30HP, the intake filter will give you 5-10HP and the testpipe another 5HP.

So 240CHP will definately have you beating many civics and older Supras for a little over $100 bucks, can't get any better than that.

yeah, i don't think you are gonna get a laser to look more pimp than a new style supra, but you can definatly make it smoke one. and you can still make it look good with some wheels and a spoiler.

and by spoiler i mean a stock looking one, wings look g@y.

The dude that sold me this car told me it was a turbo I should take it back but might just give it to my mom as a daily driver i'll be looking to purchase a turbo Laser/Talon/Eclipse so if u know any under 1k i'll check it out- boo i got all rawled up for nothing sry
like i said i'm way new to dsm cars and someone told me 4g37 suxxxors balls.
could do an engine swap but i'm betting that would make this car way not worth the money invested so i'll just look for a good complete buy.

I got mine for 3500, but the head is relatively new, and it came with all the go fast parts in stage 1.

$200 bucks w/sunroof clean as a sumbiatch and had a blewn headgasket. Slapped a new one on there for $25bucks and shes hummin fine.

Man if I am in the market to buy a turbo car and don't know how to find a turbo under the hood......I am not going to browse alone. Bring someone with you that knows at least a shred about the car.


200 bucks or 2000 doesn't matter, it wasn't what he said it was. Send it back.

I bought my 1991 GS-T for 2500 with 120K on it, 148 compression and Greddy BOV and boost controller.

I also looked at a turbo Laser, 130K, bone stock with rebuilt motor. Selling for 1200.

So look for a Talon or Laser FWD 1G. They can be had for sub 2K.
