Lancer Evolution III Intake Manifold

Do you recall which FMIC you went with? If not, was it generic or a name-brand?

Me? I'm running a kit from a company called Victory Performance but as far as I know their no longer in business. It was a rather expensive kit when I bought it 4 or 5 years ago. Think it was right around the $1100 mark, but I'm still more then happy with it, quality is top notch. I believe they used a Garrett core for the kit adding their own custom cast end tanks (better flowing & stronger then welded end tanks), if memory serves me correctly.

Here's a datalog I pulled the other day. Not my best, but I also backed off the timing 2-3*. The ECMLink is estimating ~390 w.h.p. What I've seen is that the stock 2g intake manifold peaks at 6000 rpms, the EVO3 intake manifold peaks around 6400 rpms. I'm hitting 41 lb/min at 7100 rpms which is low for me, but there it is. I typically have some good torque numbers, but I'm not gunning it here until above 5500 rpms. Again, not a real dyno but it gives an idea where the powerband gets shifted.

Hey all I don’t want to hijack this thread too much but I’m going to put evo 3 manifold on my eclipse.
The question is on one of the evo coil packs I have it has a black block on the left side and on the others it is missing. The question is could I use this part from my original coil pack and mount it on the evo bracket.
I’ve had a quick look at the one on my car and from what I can see it looks the same????
Here’s a pic and the part in question is circled in red.

He could pm me i might know where he could get one from ;)

If in doubt just put your coil packs on the evo bracket and pay attention to the wiring order.

Thanks but i want to know if you could exchange the block, i think it may be called the power pack???? from the one on my eclipse to the one on the evo. I know it sounds strange but theres a reason ;) Call it market research

Yes, the power transistor most likely can be swapped out with the one from your car. Actually, the Evo III power transistor is most likely identical to the one on your car.

Has anyone tried extrude honing a evo 3 intake? Just wondering if there would be any real benefit.

I believe this was already discussed. For the vast majority of those actually using this manifold, it would do next to nothing. Very little (if any) noticeable gain. On any regular street tuned DSM, I would be extremely surprised if you got even close to a 5whp gain from honing it. Not to mention the cost.

I figured as much. There isnt really much material to take away anyway.

Thats good to know and thanks.

Eric, thanks again for being a great seller!

I received my intake manifold and at first I was confused on which one it might be. I went back and read the beginning of this thread and conclude that I have an Evo I or II intake mani: TB opening is 60mm, I don't have the barb at the end of the plenum and no EGR opening.

Can't wait to install it along with my other goodies!

I sent mine to Wilson and had them cut it apart, rework the ports, weld extra material in and what not. I am quite pleased with it over the smim I took off. Airflow looks about the same up stairs and much better in the midrange. And it looks stock and fits stock which I also like.

I miss you guys.
Evo still is awesome, Corey(gofer) and I still hang out so I get to see my old GSX in a way. He is still using the evo3im that I had in my car. Hope you all are well.

I THOUGHT that's where Corey got his mani from! Yeah and it's still nice and clean too. Too bad about the head lifting or there would have been some nice numbers out of that HTA68 at RRE

Does any one have an evo 3 intake manifold they want to sell I would like to have the throttle body as well. I have looked and sent some pm's to a person who is supposed to have them kn stock and cant get them to reply. I am looking to get one asap so if any one can help me out it would be great.

I just did some work for a kid on his GST and he had a spare intake that he told me I could have. Since I knew what it was I snagged it up. So I got an RVR intake manifold with the Coil packs, PTU and intake bracket for FREE!!!!!!!!!!! I was pretty stoked about it

Mine came in the mail today!! all the way from Europe Looks like did have an egr but has been blocked off. It doesn't weigh anything really, much lighter than my cyclone that I have now. ALso came with the mounting bracket not quite sure just yet how that bolts together but I'm sure that I'll figure it out.

I hope you didn't buy that cyclone with the intensions of putting it on a 2g head.

On a side note, I found a local guy who had an RVR manifold with coils mounted and everything. So I snagged it up. :hellyeah:

No I have a 1g head on the car right now and i'm in process of switching back. I know that the cyclone goes on a 1g head LOL. I got mine for 120 shipped.

Where are you guys seeing these for sale the most? I've been all over ebay lately but I've never seen any on there. Is therea common place to find them I'm missing?

I got an RVR intake mani 2g head that after I cleaned up found has light port work and combustion chamber work for a bare 1g head. I have both on my 1st gen now hopefully I will have it up and running in a few weeks.
