I just put a lambo door kit on my car and have a question about the ease of use. Whenever Im in the car opening and closing the door is a pain in the rear. Its not bad standing outside of the car but I was wondering if this is normal considering they are made for show. I got them in a trade for my stock exhaust and a sub and amp so Im pretty happy considering the price I paid! More floor space for lambos? Sign me up! :D

PS I can do without all of the lambos are crappy coments

People commonly have lots of problems with them, hence the "Lambo doors suck" comments. They are not practical in any way. The only reason some Lambo's even have them is so they can physically open a door when parked in a parking lot (they are incredibly wide).

Im going to be putting lambo doors on mine as well. I think they look cool on talons, and it's not a daily driver. It is a big heavy door though, probably why it's a pita to open. Also if the shocks are used that could be a problem as they wear out fast. If you decide they are not for you send me a pm

LOL I'm not going to say there crappy as I use to want them back in the day but I didn't think people still used them.

Anyway to answer your question my buddy use to have one one one his 3g and he said it was a pain in the ass getting in and out the car. He said it was awkward getting in and out at an angle. As far as opening and closing he never said that was the problem.

However, why dont you post a video or pics of said event. Oh btw did you get it welded on or bolt on ?

Shave some weight off the door, and should be easier. But yeah, there is a reason why lambo's don't come with those hinges anymore LOL.

And Calan, indeed it should be :)

I had a pair on my car about 5 yerars ago. Redic heavy and not to mention girls didnt understand the concept of lifting up vs swinging out (LOL).. not to mention people would lean on my doors as well: all this meant I would have to readjust them once a week. I finally found a good adjustment point and jb welded it into position. But the moral of the story is that they were more annoying than useful. Only way to make them lift easier is to shread some weight as stated above.

I realize the weight of the door is a factor but is I shave weight off of the door would it not make the door harder to close?! I have them adjusted where I can get in and out of the car pretty easily not raising the door. I just like the fact that if I wanna show my car off I can raise my doors up and turn some heads!

I have the bolt on kit from vertical doors.

well if i guess go ahead and put them on i hope it works out for you, seems like a bit much especially for weight and sealing of the car for attention, i never seen any dsm with them but hey.

Not many do. Most people have outgrown the F&F stuff and Lambo doors because:

1. They add weight
2. They are impractical and hard to get in/out of
3. They don't hold up
4. They tend to not seal as well
5. They immediately label you as a ricer

But other than that, they rock yo!

:)

LOL yea I think 5 and 2 are the biggest problems. I also heard if your car flips upside down your pretty much F***ed.

These "Lambo" doors are not Lamborghini doors in any way shape or form. These open out and then go up. Lamborghini doors open straight up. The shape of the body door opening allows them to do that. Not possible on our cars without complete custom debauchery. The Lambos have had these doors since the Countach on the V12 flagship models. The Gallardo came in with regular doors. It is also a little tiny car. 6" narrower than the Murcilagro.

I already have em installed. I just need to know from someone who has them if its normal for them to be kinda tough to open and close or if I need to look into some new shocks. As far as driving with the car they seal great and havent had any problems with air coming into the car and they actually latch as good as stock (just takes some time adjusting). Ive gotten a ton of compliments on them and actually enjoy them a lot.

To be honest I'm not sure how much of a head turner lamboo doors are these days. Personally I think a good paint job plus nice rims will be a much better head turner.

However, if you really want lamboo doors to be a head turner you have to upgraded to this:

Or if you really want people to stare at you upgrade to these bad boys :D:

A buddy of mine used to have them on his 94 cutlass supreme. He got backed into by a lady at work and they were ruined. He always liked them on that car, but when he bought an Avenger, with the longer heavy doors like ours and installed a set, he hated them and only left them on for about a week. Shaving down weight from the doors would probably help, but its up to you if you want to sacrifice ease of use just to turn heads.

LOL No matter which door hinges you have, you're pretty much SOL if you flip your car upside down. Right? But if I rolled my car upside down and it had vertical door hinges, I'd probably just crawl out one of the broken windows. ;)

I helped a buddy install a set of these on a Civic about 10 years ago. The "neat" factor wears off within a week and then it's just a chore from there on out. They're far too bothersome for me to recommend them to anybody.

After watching that vid and throwing up a lil in my mouth, I have decided that I am going to leave my doors in their original factory horizontal position.

If my goals were to make some sort of track car where weight was high priority I wouldn't even bother with them, but for my dd I like having them. It I ever decide to track the car which is one of my goals down the road I'll loose the hinges. Plus I may take it to some local car shows when I get my interior redone and my high wing mounted and the lambo doors would be cool for that since that's what they're made for.

Because nothing screams award-winning class like a 16 year old mitsubishi with semi-functional lambo doors.

The only reason people would turn their heads is so they can project their laughter in the appropriate direction.

You better have atleast bought vertical doors and not the cheap ebay crap. I put a set on my 4g eclipse when I had it and well.... I wont be doing that again! I got sponsored so the 1800$ set cost 500$ but the hinges are heavy it was easy to open and even easier if you have longer arms. I would not recommend driving with them open but after the 3rd readjustment you will figure it out.

The hardest part is I had to cut and extend all of the door wires so they wouldn't be so tight when all the way up.

It was realm cool to have people taking pictures and all that. But ya grow out of stupid stuff like that!

Rubber side down!

Oh and my vertical doors would open out then up. So you wouldn't have to do it all the time very practical.
