So in reading through a galantvr4 thread, it appears the 2g rear Struts fit the 1g/vr4 rear + they have the added benefit of being able to adjust them with a turn of the knob unlike the 1g specifics in which you have to remove them to adjust them.

I believe they may be a little shorter but if you are lowering your car that is a good thing. They also have better dampening than the 1g rears and you have to make your own bracket to hold the brake line. I am using ground controls and they are working great. My shop is only about half hour from Koni North America and a lot of the guys who work there bring there cars to us for alignments. I called and talked to one of the guys I know there after I had my 1g shocks here and we got a 2g in and I set the shocks next to each other and thought they would work. He agreed and swapped me out. The awesome thing was the 2g rears were cheaper. The shaft is bigger so you have to use the sleeve that is supplied with the shock in the upper mount. I am not sure if they would work for a car without coilovers but if I remember right the perches looked like they would be close. "

I haven't been on tuners in years. I finally decide to pony up for some Konis because the AGXs on my car suck and I find out they are discontinued. At least the 2g shocks seem to be a good option.

Good to know! I'm looking forward to seeing more people trying this option.

I'm happy to see this as well, I'm seriously considering scrapping my (used for 1 track day and part of 1 summer) Ksport RR's.

Yeah, KSport's suck. I've had them before on another vehicle. 3 blown within 1K miles!
I am thinking of maybe even selling my 1g specific to get the 2g rears.

I figured the $1600 set of "RR only" coilovers would actually prove to be worth something, are they just as bad as the cheap(er) versions?

I have no way of knowing how the standard units are, I have no experience with them. I can say that my RR's, much like most other people report regarding ALL low priced coilovers, have WAY too much compression damping. They are ok-ish on a smooth racetrack although I'm told more compliance would likely be a benefit to my lap times. They do still work as well as ever, or did when the car went into mothballs so I cannot attest to the longevity issue some have reported.

The adjustment seems to control the rebound more than the compression so, all I end up with, when dialing out the adjusters is, the comical/annoying pogo effect and the bump compliance is still way harsh.

It seems like it would be pretty simple to fab up some brackets to hold the brake lines. I think however since my car never sees track duty(I've got a Miata for that:shhh:) I may just go with some off the shelf Tein SS.

Okay, I am thinking of possibly doing the 2g Koni rears on my VR-4 with the H&R springs I have on. Can somebody with a 2g Struts/Sping combo measure the length from the mount/eye to the spring perch? I have JIC FLT-2's on my 2g so it doesn't really help
