Koni sports and H&R OE sports for AWD 2g. Will it work?

Well, let me start off by letting everyone know, I am not out to lower my car in any way.

With that said, I am looking to improve the handling of my 97 awd, with a proper spring and shock combo. An aggresive stance, no more then a 1 inch drop to keep from throwing the camber to far off.

Koni sports seem to be the way to go. The question is what springs will work best with minimal drop. I do not mind a stiff ride quality, somthing that can handle some auto-x here and there.

jtmcinder suggested the koni sports with the H&R OE sports because of the stated 1.0 inch drop. :thumb: Only problem is....they dont make the OE sports for AWD. only FWD.
Will FWD springs work with AWD koni shocks?
(not to be confused with H&R sports for awd, witch lower the car 1.7 F, 1.5 R)

What am I to do? Suggestions? Advice?

Yes, FWD springs will work with AWD shocks. Koni doesn't make AWD and FWD shocks, they're the same part number. I currently have "FWD" springs using AWD rear shocks. I posted the differences between AWD and FWD shocks a few days ago with a pic.
 
That's great, but, as I wrote to Drift_SM privately, I'm almost sure that there's someone who has actually tried his particular set-up: viz., Koni Sports and H&R OE Sports for FWD. And it would be great if this could be verified.

As to the issue of camber, the drop of OE Sports shouldn't raise any issues in the front. In the rear, I would space out the upper arms by between 1/8th and 3/16th of an inch before getting it aligned. Not for tire-wear, of course, since you will be asking for near-zero toe; I say this because the car will handle better with less camber in the rear than in the front. And the steepness of the rear bump-camber curve of a 2G will cause even this modest drop to give you too much in the rear.

I'm in the middle of a awd conversion and I have put in koni sport with H&R OE springs in the rear with the awd subframe in. It dropped it about to 2 finger widths inside the wheel wells. I have not had the change to drive it around yet since my project has some ways to go.

Off topic does anyone know the spring rate for these springs?
 
jtoby has a an uncomfirmed set of numbers for these springs, but they are most likely compareable to prokits/gf210's in spring rates.

sorry if it seems like I'm always speaking for you jtoby, PLEASE correct me if I am wrong, I'm just trying to help out - especially since these same questions were once my own.
 
I'll have to dig around for the numbers, but I remember one thing: the H&Rs were much more rear-biased than the Eibachs, which is a good thing from mid-corner onwards.

I'm interested in these springs since it will bring my car back up toward normal proportions. Will the FWD spings work in an AWD car?
