knock/tick please read and advise

ok 1g turbo talon awd. no serious mods or anything, came out of work and car started ticking horibly would not idle or boost. drove 2 minutes up the road to my dads house. someone told me to clean the lifters, cleaned them did not help sound seems like its coming from the back of the motor near the intake manifold what could this possibly be?????? any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If there's no boost and it comes somewhere from intake could it be loose egr valve or some broken gasket? Allso check the oil pressure if it's internal sound. Bad bearing or something.

Check your oil first of all.Injectors can tick pretty loud if they go bad,and that will affect your boost,it happened to my tsi.Stick an ohm meter on them just in case.Should be 2-3 ohms.
