I have an engine management system on my car that does not have a knock sensor. Does anyone know if there is a way to hook up the stock knock sensor, maybe to a warning light in the gauge cluster?? Thanks

Buy J&S Safeguard. It works with a standalone and wil retard timing when it detect knock.

You beat me to it autronic.

The J&S also will only retard timing in the cylinder that are knocking, which makes a big different in power output.

You can't hook the stock knock sensor up to anything because the type of signal it outputs needs to be processed (and processed a lot) before it is useful.

Thanks for the info guys, I will try that J&S, any idea who sells one. I am runing an autronic system. :thumb:

J&S has a version that uses a stock knock sensor (or at least they had it before). Search on yahoo for J&S Safeguard and you will find their website. You need to order it from the guy who makes these.

Why dont you just screw all that and get the AEM EMS and that will slove all your problems!

Why don't you stop being an idiot and follow what every other t00ner says on the internet?

However inappropriate, he is sort of right. An AEM EMS would solve all his problems because it works amazingly well with the 2G knock sensor and is supported really well. Mine will be going in shortly and I will be learning the software and tuning the car myself (as I have a knack for that type of stuff) hopefully I'll be good support eventually for others trying out the AEM system.

He's not right. How will it solve his problem if J&S is cheaper then buying AEM, installing it and then trying to sell his old ems? It's piece of cake to wire it in. Not to mention there's no need to calibrate a table for timing retard. I just love how everybody says to use AEM and they don't even have one running!

Hey there bubby I have my AEM running fine and it works great. In truth there is about five us around here that are running it, and we can do things most ems never could touch. Sorry if you feel lost when it comes to hi tech tunning.

I said "SORT OF RIGHT". MEANING.... That though his answer was not the best solution, in a world without money where it didn't matter the AEM would have answered that problem because it interfaces with the 2G knock sensor perfectly. SO that WOULD HAVE solved his problem.

I was NOT saying that was the best answer just that it's sort of correct. I'm not sure why your getting so defensive anyway?

I am so sick of everyone thinking it's the only standalone that will work. In all honesty a lot of people don't use the extra features aside from the boost controler in the first place, which seems to be everyones basis on the aem being the best thing since sliced bread.
I'm not saying the aem is bad, hell I have one in my car and am very happy with it so far.
The bottom line is autronic works, haltech works, TEC III um well electromotive sucks, so does SDS. If you already have one don't sell it for an aem soley based on knock suppression.
