knock in neutral

here is the problem ,when I had dsm link in the car using a tune from before the worked great ,I am getting knock while not in boost ,about 15 degrees of it ,so I changed the ecu back to a stock one and stock injectors ,now with the data logger setup I am still getting knock .changed knock sensor ,timing is @ 5 degrees ,no leaks anywhere ,had exhaust checked . I have a clunking noise in my gear box ,is it possible my knock sensor is picking this up.

Sounds like you could have phantom knock. PITA for us 1g guys they seem to fix the problem in the 2g they use the same setup with a different sensor not nearly as sensitive. Just search phantom knock on here and you'll get a ton of threads its a common problem, to the point that some weld the hole on there knock sensor closed . cuts down on ambient noise picked up

today i seen 42 counts of knock just free reving it in the garage ,I am gonna pull my tranny apart now because of the knocking noise and it is getting hard to get into reverse .I have ruled out all other causes . I have seen some knock before which was normal ,but this is outrageious .

I'm telling you its phantom knock or your knock sensor went bad. just search the forums for phantom knock

that is what i am thinking to ,i posted a log on ecm tuning site and no one has even come up with an answer for it ,i am registered with the same user name there ,if you want to take a look at it ,i don,t know if your registered there or not ,but thanks for the info ,one more thing ,i unpluged the knock sensor and it does the same thing ,only it won,t rev like when it is pluged in ,i am thinking it is a safety feature so you don,t blow your engine .
