Knock From left wheel-well

hey guys,
i'm getting a knocking sound coming from the left wheel-well area and i don't know what it is. the knock gets faster when i accelerate but the sound doesn't get louder/quieter relative to my speed. When i turn the wheel left or right the knock goes away. also, there's some fluid leaking on the ground right under the left wheel-well that isn't oil because i've checked my oil everyday since i got the car and it hasn't gone down. I'm thinking that maybe it's a power steering leak there or something. I think the two things might be related because they are coming from the same area. just hit me back with some ideas as to what it could be and how i can go about diagnosing them. Thanks



edit-- i can feel the knock in the gas pedal, steering wheel, and brake. but i don't feel and vibrations on the clutch pedal.

strut mounts and ball joints.
that was my problem i had.
but sounds like you have an axel going bad. that might be boot grease. is it thin or thick fluid?

If you can feel the vibration I would say wheel bearing, warped rotor, or any thing that I iLUV stated. You need to go jack it up and see if anything moves.

+1 on a failing axle. Definately jack it up & check for play in the wheel to eliminate or possibly confirm a bad bearing also . . .

I suspect a bad CV joint on the axle.

Wheel bearings make a grinding sound.
Ball joints make a clunk when you hit bumps.
(I've had both go bad.)

Also make sure that the lug nuts are tight, i had the same thing and i thought it was the wheel bearings and turns out my lug nuts were loose and my tire flew off.

If its a constant ticking under load, its likely a cv going out

well the fluid that i was leaking was Power Steering fluid and i was told that there is a gear in there that could have gotten shredded up because there was no fluid in the well. could that be what's causing my knock?? i couldn't tell what color the fluid was because whatever it was mixed with the dirt that's on the engine and shit so it just looks black.

Broken axle bearing carrier bolts, under the AC on the back of the block.
