OK, I just bought this car today, and tonight when I finished driving it, I locked the doors. Then I wanted to see if the keys work and for the drivers side the key wont unlock the door. It works fine with the passenger side door. Should I call the dealer and tell them what's up? Unless someone knows a trick to help me. Thanks.

People complain a lot of 2g door handles snapping off during really cold weather, so it's a possibility this happened, the previous owner swapped them and didn't swap the keyhole piece. In this case, I don't know if there is anything you can do.

More likely the key's blown. Give the lock tumbler a quick shot of WD-40 and see if it'll free up. Be gentle on it. If that key's used up, hit a real locksmith's shop and tell them what the problem is, see how much they want to fix it. It may just need a more accurately-cut key.

I had the same problem, kind of. Does the key turn, or does it just go in, but doesn't turn? I could get my key in, but it wouldn't turn, so i just started tweaking a bit, and i straightened my key out(a little bent), and now i just have to put the key in, at an angle coming from above the key hole, and going in.

My key turns, its just nothing happens. I'm gonna call the dealer today and when they tell me to get my tags, I'm gonna tell them to fix it, unless you all know an easier way.

Sorry to bring the thread back from the dead, but i didn't want to start a new one.

I just bought another DSM, and i can't unlock neither the driver or passenger side door with the key. The key is not the original and it is kind of bent, but no matter what angle i put the key in no luck. The hatch opens fine, and the key turns in the ignition.

Also the passenger side lock wont even move with the power switch. I had a similar issue with my old
2g, that one i was able to open the passenger side door with the key.
