i just bought my gvr4 about two weeks ago and keep blow turbos. i have gone through 3 big16g's in 2 weeks. about every 40-50 miles. thoinking that one of the oil line mihg thave been clogged i replaced thoses. but same result. im running the line off the head still. but im thinking im going to move it to the filter housing. when we installed the last one we backed out the oil feed line and cranked it. we got oil coming out but i still cant figure it out. both of the turbos in put on were very fresh. so i have no idea whats going on. PLEASE HELP!!!!

Metal is getting into the turbo somehow. I've never rebuilt a turbo that was full of metal that was pulled from a car with a good engine, so it sounds to me like something on your car is getting ready to take an extended vacation.

If you want to keep running it until it breaks, try these in your oil supply lines:
Forced Performance: FP -4 AN Inline Filter

they keep getting massive shaft play and howling. and yes im priming the turbos. the oil does not look like it has metal fragments in it. and im getting the turbos from local people and im checking them before installed

"Checking them" doesn't mean you're totally tearing them down and looking for metal clogging the oil supply hole in the thrust plate and journal bearings, does it?

Sounds to me like they're selling you turbos that are pulled from worn motors....turbos that are already full of metal.

the last one i got was definatly fresh it only had about 200 miles on it from a freshly broken in motor. and it was working just great for him more the last 3 months. the turbo was purchased from bucher and i saw receipts for it.

Drain your oil and drop the pan to see if you have any shavings from your bearings. The gasket is cheaper than another turbo and will give you a much more definitive answer.

Make sure that your return line isn't kinked or cloged. If it is that will cause you to have too much oil pressure inside the turbo core wich will cause seals to blow out and your car will begin to smoke. It does smoke when the turbos go out right? Also, a turbo that is used to break in a motor is most likely to have metal inside it. Just cut open an oil filter from a freshly rebuilt motor and you'll see what I mean.

im not recieving any smoke out of the exhaust when they go out and like i said i just replaced the oil lines. dropping the pan is a good idea considering i just bought the car. i changed the oil when i bought the car less the 300 miles ago. ill drop the pan this weekend and see what going on. thanks guys ill keep ya updated. ill do the oil line conversion over to the oil filter housing this weekend and let you know.

Even after you get your engine up and running, you may want to consider an inline filter like the FP ones I linked in the above post.

I had a buddy wipe out a low-mileage GT13 because of metal in the oil....a $1000+ mistake that could've been prevented by a $60 filter.

my pan was dented up into my oil sump which was restricting oil from flowing as well as it should have.###. so we banged out the pan and i picked up about 10-20 lbs of oil pressure through out the rpm but mainly up top. we quieted down the knock but know i just have a ticking timebomb. WONDERFUL. of course what 4g62 isnt right
