Hello, I plan on purchasing all these parts for my car here in the near future, and am just checking with you guys to see if I've made the right choices or if there's anything I really need. This is my weekend car, and as far as my plans for this, I really only care to make it into the low 12's (Yes I know you'll probably say I'm gonna want more later on)

My current mods:
K&N Filter
1G BOV
Joe P MBC
3" Turboback Exhaust
Hard Upper & Lower Intercooler Piping
NGK Plugs
ACT 2600 clutch
Boost gauge

Planned mods:
PTE SCM50 with the Internal wastegate (High pressure actuator (14+ PSI) option)(Website here)
Walbro 255 LPH High Pressure
PTE 680CC Injectors
Forced Performance Intake Pipe
SBR's new cast manifold
SBR 02 Housing
Aeromotive FPR with gauge
Johnny Racecar FMIC
SAFC
Either ECU+ or DSMLink

Is any of this overkill to get in the low 12's? Am I missing anything? Or should I just go with a SBR G50 (Link here) or MHI Evo III 16G (Link here)? All with internal wastegate..don't really want to shed out the 300+ bucks for a Tial wastegate if I don't have to.

Sorry for all the questions. Thanks!

Low 12's are very much possible on an internally gated 16g. With your setup, a good tune, and some time behind the wheel at the track your car should be capable of your goal. If you are just looking to stay in the 12's I would stick with a 16g. Even if you are looking to go faster there are 16g's in the 11's as well. But remember, the bigger the goal the harder you have to work for it. For example, fine tuning. :thumb: All I have stated is of course assuming you are getting the fuel upgrades you have listed as well. If you want the times you need the fuel.

Also, I see you are debating between an AFC and DSM link. DSM link will be the better choice because you will be able to get a finer tune as well as being able to control your timing.

Looks like you have a great start.

You could also save money by ditching the SAFC, you wont need it with DSM link.

I do not believe you need to get an SAFC if you get either the ECU+ or the DSMLink. Also you will probably need a limited Slip Differential in the tranny which would help, a wideband O2 sensor, probably some new stiffer motor mounts to help minimize wheel hop, upgrade your brakes to larger brakes since you will be going faster most likely and will need to stop, upgrade to SS brake lines, and I would be worried the stock tranny would have some issues as you break the 300 hp mark. But thats my oppinion.

Also consider upgrading the suspension.

He's AWD..doesn't need an LSD.

Stock tranny not being able to handle over 300 hp?? Sure it can. Maybe throw in a lighter flywheel with that ACT2600 though..and get a short shifter with underhood & shifter plate bushings! Not really necessary but they're goood.

Santa Maria eh. I'm sure I've seen you driving around.

Should I get anything ported?? I might be leaning towards the 16G from SBR. should i get the turbo outlets and inlets ported?

Porting on any turbo is going to increase air flow. If you are looking to get the best performance out of it, port away. :)

the bb50 is a great setup. We have installed quite a few in house. Not only on DSM's but on various other imports. You get great spool with a tremendous mid and top end. Seriously, when this thing hits 20-22psi it will snap you back like a champ. i love it.

So what would be better..the Evo III 16G, fully ported with a ported exhaust manifold, or a 50-trim, not ported at all?

Sorry for all the questions! Just want to make sure i got this right. its a big decision! cost is another thing..id kind of rather spend less on the 16g, as opposed to the ~$1300 total for the 50 trim

In my honest opinion, for what you are looking for you do not need more than a 16g. The 16g comes on fast and hard. It is quite a difference from stock. Especially if you are just looking for 12 second country. It is also a very good street turbo. You will have boost anywhere from 3500 to 3800 RPMS depending on the car. Hope this helps. :thumb:

The AWD's need two LSD's, one for the front and a replacement for the stock viscous center.

Are you saying the original poster needs TWO LSDs?! There is no such thing as a viscous open diff. So the awd already has a limited slip center diff for the rear wheels if it is viscous. Why spend the money for something already there?

Now about getting limited slip for the front. If his goals are 12s, why would he need a front lsd? What 100%, or something close to that, of the guys running 12.XX timeships don't drop a LSD in the front. As a_scobel said, "He's AWD..doesn't need an LSD."

And if your going to make power you want to get that power to all 4 wheels and as equally as possible.

His stock drive train will take care of that nicely for a 12.XX timeslip. Even high 11s.

Yes. I really agree. My 18g (which is very similar to an EVO3 16G. And if this turbo were on a stock cammed, safc controlled, front mount intercooled gsx with decent exhaust; it would be an easy LOW 12 second car. . .

But do you want to stop there? That's the question. A 50 trim will take you farther. I say get the 50 trim and get your 12 second time slip. And leave the boost and tune to a minimum until you get cams, a tre or shep tranny; and go for low 11s. Buy your turbo once. If you only want 12s, DEFINATELY get the EVO3 16G. But, if you think you may want more later, for sure you will. In that case get the 50 trim now.

Sorry guys, one more question! How is the 16G on the highway? I'm sure compared to the 50trim it's nothing, but just wondering if it'll hold boost until redline or what? Thanks again!

On the highway the 16g is still a very good turbo. It may start to fall off at redline depending on how much boost you are trying to run. If you are trying to run anything over 21lbs, by redline you will see it drop anywhere from 3-5lbs. This of course will depend on the rest of your setup. The 16g does tend to hold it's own on the highway though. Hope this helps. :thumb:
