50 trim setup

I've been reading a bunch but still dont know what to do. I dont know whether to go external gate of manifold and if I do do I need a o2 dump tube or can I use a recirculated dump? Would I really get better spool up time if I were to go external gate off the o2 housing? I really dont like the sound of dumping HOT fumes under my hood. What should I use what are the pros/cons, etc... I have a bullseye bolt on 50 trim.
 
I've wondered about this too. But, in my half-witted opinion, I think the only time the hot exhaust would build up is under a stand-still position. While the car is moving, would the breeze and moving air from under the car suck the gases along with it? Also, even at short amounts of stand-still idle and what not, wouldn't this eventually cause a build up on your engine? I've seen buddies with 1g's and when they're running TBE with no cat the bumper gets a kind of black stain from the exhaust fumes rising up out of the exhaust. Anyone have personal experience with the setup?WTF

And you should never external dump any exhaust fumes, won't pass emissions or cops, and is bad for the environment :nono:

Well, let's see here, the only way hot exhaust gases would build up in the engine bay is if the un-recirculated dump was open at idle when the vehicle was stopped. If it was indeed open, you would obviously have issues. As far as where to mount the wastegate, it's entirely up to you. Lots of people have success with the internal gate if you're not running an exorbitant amount of boost, otherwise, off the manifold or external off the housing is fine. As far as recirculated vs. unrecirculated, that's preference too but in my opinion, the noise from an open dump gets annoying, just to let you know.
 
I ran a 50 trim for years. Definately go with the external. I tried it both ways. I bought mine with an internal and had terrible boost control issues. I had it swapped over to internal off a tubular dumped O2 and I liked it a lot better. The boost control was spot on and it spooled better. I ran a SuperTrapp muffler like this on mine. It kept the noise down reasonable. As was already mentioned, the external is only open under full boost, so increased under hood temps at idle wasn't really an issue. I also header wrapped everything I could. Here are some pictures of my set-up.
 
I don't know about you guys who are having boost control issues on internal gate 50 trims. Because I run one. PTE 50 trim internally gated. I hold wastgate's lowest boost setting of 15lbs no problem, no creep or spike. A lot of others who have no problem either, so who's doing something wrong?

But it might depend on which 50trim, and other components.
