So I need a rebuild because my piston rings are blown and the walls are scratched. Problem is I only have 2000$ and I dont think i can get the job done with my budget. I found this web site selling 4g63's turbo and N/A. I was looking at the N/A because its the cheapest and I can just use my current turbo and manifold for it. I was wondering, if you guys think it looks like a good deal or not.

Our amazing low-mileage engines and transmissions

IMO you could rebuild for mad cheap, just take your engine out and tear it down, and take the block to a machine shop. Depending on how bad your cylinder walls are scored, you may be able to just hone them and go with the same pistons (with new rings) and if they are too scored up, just go .20 over and buy some new pistons and rings. Either way you come out way way below $2000. I did it with my 6 bolt when one of my rings blew and it only cost me a couple hundred of dollars to fix. I knew a guy who I traded some stuff for a set of 2g pistons but even if I had bought them I would have spent less than $600. If you're set on buying a whole new engine, might as well go for the turbo since they are only $1600 and you have a budget of $2000. Good luck and remember, DSM people do it themselves:hellyeah:

I wish I could do it myself, but I live in an apartment and dont have any place to do it. Not to mention I'm just a noob and I dont have near enough knoledge to take it out and tear it down by myself.(I'm not saying I am not willing to learn though)

It can be rebuilt on a budget less than $2k
You can also buy a JDM motor for far less than that as well

Ahhh, the old apartment story. I know it well as I used to live in one myself but luckily I had my parents within towing distance so I was able to do all my work in their backyard. In your case I would still recommend the turbo but if you go with the N/A, my buddy has put 14b's on a few N/A 4g63's and tuned them on 8lbs with good results so you still have that option available. You won't be able to boost to 20lbs but you could still have a little zip around town. If you did want to do it yourself and knew somebody who would lend you some yard space, the knowledge is only a $15 chilton manual away and there is always this awesome site but good luck with whatever you choose and let us know how it turns out:thumb:

I dont know anybody who would be willing to lend me some yard space=/. What cars would the N/A 4g63 come out of? Do they not have the same internals? If not then I will buy the turbo engine. How much do mechanics usually charge do do an engine swap?

The internals are similar. The difference is the pistons and the n/t block has no oil squirters. The crank, block and rods are the same. Also a mechanics price will vary, but if you go that route you can can cut your budget in half.

If this is true then I will just rebuild it. My dad is trying to find a new motor though cause some mechanic told him that people in Japan are required to replace there motor every 30,000 miles or something like that, and that it would be cheaper to just buy a new one. I have never heard of anything like that have you guys>?
