Hey you guys I just painted my car from Red to black about a month ago.. have been buffing and wet sanding and making everything nice and now I am done with all that. I ran into a slight problem when spraying the primer.. The tape didnt stick in a few places (cheap tape at the time) and primer got on the rubber trim .. mainly around the windshield sunroof and back glass. also at the base of the glass on the doors.. Now as soon as i noticed i used a little laquor thinner and acetone and tried to get the primer off of the rubber. This didnt work .. so i tried to scrape it off.. its pretty much there I can get it to come off scraping but it damages the rubber piece so i was thinking of just painting them black... But i figure the paint will crack or something dumb.. Tried krylon fusion on the same part on a junk car and it didnt seem to hold up too well anyways .. I am dumbfounded on fixing this.. obviously the trim will be a real pain in the ass to replace so I was hoping i can find something to get rid of this primer on the paint and the trim and use mothers back to black to bring the trim to a reasonable look again.. The primer that is on it is not rattle can It is Dupont Nason 2k Urethane primer color gray .. any suggestions?

have you tried taking some brake clean, spraying it on a rag and rubbing at the primer? Give that a shot, let me know if it works.

will try that tonight ... not to sure it will cut it but wont hurt to try .. did try carb cleaner without success and I think Carb cleaner is a bit stronger than brake cleaner... I am sure paint stripper would do it LOL but i'm not brave enough to pull that trick and try keeping it off the new paint LOL... Also kinda worried that a solvent I apply will cause the rubber to break down :-( ...

Great looks like that stuff may do the trick...now all i have to do is try to find some locally so i dont have to wait a week for it LOL... I was looking all over for something like that and was running into trouble everywhere thanks for the link i'll give it a shot
