I just ordered these bad boys from ExtremePsi as they are having the best deal right now. I can't wait to get them on. I also picked up a JMF SMIM and trying to get a 1g TB. Want to throw them in all at once and see how she runs after that. I just have an AFC as I am saving up for DSMlink, once I get these in will I have to re adjust my tune??

Ofcourse youre going to have to re-tune.

You might want to adjust the idle up a little bit. I have FP2 cams which are similiar to the 272's and I have idle set at 1000 with no problems. You should definitely get link soon to make sure you are running smoothly after making all those changes at once.

I think that you can throw all that stuff on at once without any problems. You will have to retune the car for sure, there's no question about that. Also, I would cancel your order on the BC cams and get some fp cams. If you search the forums you will find a trend with BC cams, they suck. If you look at the AMS cam test the BC cams never performed anywhere near the competition. Im not saying that they wont work well, but there is way better out there. I'm not bias either, cause I've had a set of BC 280's and 288's. Now I have a set of custom Comp Cams and I love them, they are a wonderful cam set. I would raise the idle up a bit, 900-1000 is plenty for those cams. Good luck with the install and tuning.

only big difference is that they all perform good some a lil bit better but your just paying for a name brand in reallity, what are your HP goals?, whats your budget, these are things you should think of.not all name brand parts are the best parts, in my experience.

nothing wrong with brian crower cams, they're a good budget cam set. They have a mild lope at idle, not bad but you may need to compensate for it with a higher idle speed. Their cam profile is not as good as HKS or some of the higher end cams available but you will get performance gains from them and thats really the point. Don't let people tell you they suck, FP2 cams are no different in profile. The only difference between the FP2 cams and the BC is that the FP behaves better. FP does not give you the lope at idle like the BC does, you actually can't tell you have aftermarket cams when you go with the FP2.

You made a good decision so don't let other people tell you different.

Also, although I like dsmlink and the guys over there that make it all happen you honestly don't need it. Find a good tuner that will take what you have in to account and have them flash you an eprom chip. Cheapest way of getting a good tune without spending a bunch of cash for nothing.

Yeah enjoy the cams and def get a re-tune since those are some significant upgrades and I def recomment DSMLINK/ECMLINK it does an amazing job.

The reason that bc cams aren't as good as other cams such as Kelford, HKS, FP, Comp, GSC, Davis Crower, Jun, Tomei, Crane ect is because they don't have the R&D put into them like the companys mentioned. Also they use sub-par cam blanks. If you looked up what the QC was like with lets say Kelfords versus BC you would be shocked. A big problem with BC cams is that they are usually off quite a bit when they are ground and require to be degreed, where as The FP cams are pretty damn close out of the box. The design of the lobe on a cam is way more then just the duration and lift! That is one reason why BC cams idle like crap and pull low vac. The shape of the lobe is where the big power is added, like how aggressive the ramping rate is and how much it softens at the shoulders. I would encourage you to ask big name tuners how they like tuning out the knock that the BC 280's seem to all have around 6-7k rpms. The reason is cause BC missed the lecture on how to make smooth lobe profiles when they were ripping of Crowers cam specs. I could go on about how bad bc cams are, but its pointless cause most dsmr's like the cheap go-fast parts. There are those that like the parts that are spendy too, but generally they already know why they are going to buy the "good" cams. BC cams will show gains over stock cams, but not other cams; there probably are a few reasons why kelford 272's killed BC 280's and its not magic.

I'm sure that the OP will enjoy the lumpy idle, and the barely added airflow of his new cams; its just a shame that he won't be able to enjoy driveablity, the loss of vac when he is braking, and the monster performance gains that come with a reputible company.

Installed and idling at 750-800 perfectly fine. I has made a huge difference on the top end. I didn't get a change to put on the JMF Street SMIM because I got a 70mm BBK TB with a 45* angle welded on it so I need to fab a piece to bolt up to my UICP.

Deltas are pretty spot on copies of HKS sticks. Additionally, they have all the strength features of a mitsubishi blank, because they come from stock cams. I've not heard of anyone needing to degree them, but it seems like the people buying them can't afford cam gears. I'd go delta over BC if I couldn't find a reasonably priced used set of the other brands.

In terms of the cams mentioned it's not just about "name brand." It's about quality, tested, and proven cams that perform. If you search the forums for bc cam reviews and compare them to kelford cams you'll see people who have tried both. There's also vendors who have tested a variety of cams on their cars and posted dyno charts that show the whp and torque differences.
