Just looked at an engine, need some questions answered fast.

Hi, I just went to a local place that had a "JDM" 4G63. Now I dont know a lot about them, but I found somethings odd about this one. At first I didn't think it was JDM because of the valve cover and intake manifold. But then I saw the throttle body and it threw me off.

First, It had a gray vavle cover. I'm sure not all the JDM had red, so this isn't a big issue.

Second, The intake manifold looked just like the USDM ones, with ECI Multi, not "Cyclone Intercooled" or whatever, which I am pleased about because this is the manifold I want.

Third, i dont know if i need a new throttle body or not, but this one has two nipples on top, and two tubes on the side to connect emissions SHIT onto. I dont know if it doesn't matter and that I just connect them in different places, or the two missing on top are not the two on the side.

Fourth, coil pack, I THINK this engine had an external oil cooler. I know on USDM engine external oil cooler means 90, which means to put it into a 91 I need a coil pack. Same with JDM? I'm gunna do some research after I post this to see if it in fact was external.

I have a new timing belt, front case, complete engine gasket set, engine sealing kit, B/S Eliminator kit, and clutch kit sitting next to me. Is there anything thing else important that i am forgetting before I put the engine in my car?

I already payed for the engine and it is being delivered tomorrow, so if you guys could give me some answers quick so I can call it off if I need to that would be great, THANKS!

I was under the impression all the JDM 4G63's had MITSUBISHI written on the valve cover...

All jdm engines ive seen say Mitsubishi where the usdm version says 16 valve. Thats all I can tell you.

Looks an aweful lot like a 1990 USDM 4G63 (if indeed it has an external air/oil cooler). J-pipe points the wrong direction as well I believe, compared to the 6bolt JDM I recieved.

many jdm motors came with b16g's and 510cc(not positive) YELLOWTOP injectors..if the motor has yellow on the injectors... im pretty sure that it is authentic japanesse domestic market... but the valve cover does not say mitsubishi on it... meaning it probably came from a talon/plymouth which are unfortionatly for you not sold in japan looks very much like this beauty...

Very few JDM engines came with these, so if your engine doesn't have 510cc injectors that doesnt mean it isn't JDM.

To my knowledge no USDM valve covers say Mitsubishi on them, only the JDM ones.

that is true.. i was thinking of the center spark plug hole cover that reads "mitsubishi" on it... sorry about the confussion
