Ok i just installed my Glow Shift Boost gauge and i had a few questions...

My car is stock except for filter, clutch and exhaust tip, and im only hitting 8psi, maybe 8.5 at the most. And i dont hit that until like 4k rpm in 2nd, and i think 3k RPM in 3rd, i havent had much time to test this with the hurricane coming and all :thumbdown .

Also my boost gauge has a slight hissing noise to it when im on the throttle, is this just the vac/boost pressure moving the needle?

And on a side note, on my valve cover today when i took the spark plug cover thing off to expose the wires and plugs, i noticed a small crack (about 1/2 an inch long) near the closest nut on the right side (when looking at the engine bay) Not sure if this is serious or not??

Anyways, any help would be appreciated, im planning on doing a leak test tomorrow to check for boost leaks, which i hope this is. I thought stock boost was supposed to be 10/11psi?

Oh yeah, its late and i need to go to bed, i did a search but nothing was close to what i needed, sorry if this is a repost , im just too tired to really care right now :|

First of all buying ebay "specials" gauge is nver a good idea. They are cheap for a reason...they are crap and inaccurate.

If you really want to use it check for kinks in the vaccum line. Hope the hissing is just poorly tighten fitting on you part, if not see comment above^^^^^

Lastly is the crack around the threaded hole for the plastic cover screw?? If so just tighten is by hand just light snug or you break off the outside wall of the hole. It happened to two of mine so i just keep the plastic cover off. You have notihng to worry about it's just won't look as nice.

You probably have a boost leak. Go to vfaq.com and check out how to make yourself a boost leak tester (easy and cheap). Pinholes in the intercooler and leaks around the BOV are the more common places.
