Installed boost gauge, now problems with idle/door lock?

As a few of you may have already known, a few days after I bought my car I installed a boost gauge that doesn't read vac. So today my Defi gauge arrived and I put it in. I removed the negative terminal from the battery during the install. I tapped into the taillight power for my gauge background lighting. After everything was in, I reconnected the terminal to the battery and started up the engine and it was idling pretty low and almost died three or four times, but after a few minutes it stabilized. Just to double check, is this normal?

Also, the passenger side door lock will operate with the power door lock switch about 50% of the time now. The door lock was fine before the gauge install, so would this be a problem with the excellent timing of appearing right after I was through with the gauge?

The low idle problem sounds like a vacuum leak. I'd re-check all of your connections for the gauge unless your vacuum readings are where they're supposed to be. Did you tee off from the FPR solenoid? Also, did it do this on one startup or has it done this every time on startup since the install? The other issue with the door locks sounds unrelated but I'm not sure so I'd rather not guess.

Double check your wiring to make sure you didn't pinch/pull/tweak/short the door lock wiring.

How's the idle treating you? Is it back to normal yet? If not, do as Andy recommended and check for vac leaks.
