Just got new plugs. BOSCH

Went and picked up some new plugs today after cleaning my air filter yesterday and re applying the k&N oil. That helped a little with my occasional hesitation/misfire problem.

My NGK's probably had about 30K on them and they look pretty bad. I went to autozone and all they had were bosch so I got the dual platinum #4306. I just put them in and went for a quick drive. It fired right up and seems to be running really smooth with no sputters through the whole powerband (even when the engine was a little cold still -hot day thou). They weren't gapped correctly and wouldn't you know the day I want to change my plugs I can't find the stupid gap tool. So, I just used a flathead scredriver and did a quick compairison to my NGK's and then gapped the Bosch the same. I'm not going to pull them and see how they look I'm just assuming all is well. I would know right away if I fowled the plugs right? Because they were 3.99 a pop.

Ok, so according to that chart I'm fouling them? Fouled spark?
Which is probably caused by running lean? Just curious because I bought that IAT mod (supposive resistor) a while back and never hooked it up because I didn't want to screw anything else up. Its supposed to increase fuel mixture. I probably could use more gas at WOT. Not sure because I have no way of monitoring unless I can use my pocket logger for that? Thanks for the info but the car seems to be running fine right now.

I guess I'll take a couple of these plugs out after a week and inspect them.

Yeah, thanks for the info. I'm feeling pretty bold nowdays and am actually somewhat confident doing simple stuff like this. I just used the flathead and that gapped them pretty good. I've been fighting Murphys Law the last few weeks. WHENEVER I need something it is impossible to find. Its driving me nuts. The gapper tool will show up right when I don't need it.

Oh well, I just got back from a night cruise with the cooler air and I must say its runnin better then ever with these plugs. Its pullin nicely and I have no sputters. I would suggest these for us NT guys. Don't know what the gap was from the factory but it was to small.

i had those on my car before.they worked fine for bout 10 k miles,then they I changed them for NGK's.No power difference just better gas mileage.

NGK's or Denso plugs are the way to go. . not german bosch plugs :thumbdown

To me it is just a sterotype. A good plug is a good plug. I'm certainly no expert on this stuff but I thought about it previous to buying these. I always use the Bosch Triple Electrodes on my 16v VW's and they work great. So far, I'm most impressed with the way these plugs are working. My car is running great with them. I know they are pricey at $3.99 a piece but thats not shit compaired to other perfomance items. If paying $2 more a plug is going to give me better power and probably better gas mileage it makes sense to spend a little more because you should save in the long run. I can see peoples reasoning behind using "German" parts on a japanese car but a sparks a spark as far as I'm concerned. I"ll be posting follow-up after using them for a week and then checking a couple of the plugs condition.

True, but different cars have different tastes. It makes no sense, there's not any engineering explanation, it just is. And DSMs like NGKs.

i use the +4's in my car. they came with a "feel the difference or we'll buy them back" guarentee. I put them in and my powerband smoothed right out and no misfires. previous plugs were the cheap(er) ones at advance auto parts w/ 5k miles on them. i don't remember the brand. Plus the +4's are warrenteed for life, can't say that about any other spark plug i've seen.

Well Defiant I understand your reasoning but it seems others are having good results with Bosch plugs as well. I'm not sure how much more the +4's are but I always thought that was a little excessive to have four electrodes. Two electrodes seems sufficient for most peoples needs. I think the +4's were 5.99 a piece! Didn't realize they offer lifetime warranty thou! Wow!

Hope these work out for me but even if they don't plugs aren't that expensive to replace.
